Becca Dates Another Married Man

Becca and manager, Kiki Banson of EKB Records

Kiki Banson of EKB records has divorced his foreign-based wife.

Another marriage is about to collapse and accusing fingers seem to be pointing at Ghana’s award-winning sensational Afro-pop musician, Rebecca Acheampong, who goes by the stage name, Becca.

So nasty is the scandal that Becca and her manager, Kiki Banson, have reportedly fallen out but only put up a stage-managed artificial rapport for the cameras.

Two names that have popped up as the potential new managers for the Afro-pop singer are Kofi Otchere Darko (KOD) and Shirley Frimpong of Sparrow Production.

What caused the problem?

A very reliable source close to Becca has shown NEWS-ONE some considerable evidence that Kiki Banson and Becca have kept a secret relationship for the past three years. Kiki’s foreign-based wife (name and details withheld for now) was said to have gotten wind of the relationship and complained bitterly, though her husband swore heaven and earth that the reports were untrue.

Sometime last month, Kiki and wife finally divorced so he could have time for Becca and stop breaking the wife’s heart. Interestingly, both manager and artiste continue to deny this relationship.

Duty-Free Love

Not long after Kiki finalized the divorce processes with his wife; apparently because of Becca, a married woman by name Yawa has popped up, accusing Becca of dating her husband, Carl Quao, and becoming a threat to the survival of their young marriage.

Carl and Becca are said to be mates at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) where the gentleman is studying Project Management. Unconfirmed reports say Carl works at one of the duty free shops at the Kotoka International Airport and he spends a huge fortune to maintain his celebrity love.

East Legon Residence

Painstaking investigations conducted by NEWS-ONE have revealed that Becca has recently moved into a luxuriously furnished three-bedroom house at East Legon in Accra; an apparent love nest for her and Carl.
The few times NEWS-ONE visited the place, the singer was apparently home with her lover; therefore our cameras could not move in to take inner shots.

However what has not been confirmed is whether Carl funded the furnishing of the residence, or the musician used her hard-earned cash. Whatever it is, the high quality rich brown painting used for the walls and gates tells a story on its own.

On one occasion, our source helped us trail a black-colored BMW X-5 believed to belong to Carl. The vehicle moved from the East Legon residence to GIMPA and then to the Kotoka International Airport.

Sakawa Boys Busted

William (left) and Eric

Police have unmasked a league of cyber fraudsters, otherwise known as ‘Sakawa Boys’, who has over the years specialized in defrauding foreigners under various pretexts.

Two of the suspects- William Quansah, 20, and Eric Kofi alias Sadat Abdulai, 29 – are currently on remand while efforts are underway to track down Godfred Adjei alias Junior, the key player in the scam.

The cover of the three was blown after the one of them posed as husband of a victim sojourning in Ghana and succeeded in defrauding the American-Canadian by name Braenda Liouise Branton, 54, of $37,000.

According to the facts of the case, the three conspired and hacked into the email of the victim’s husband and interacted with her while she was in Canada, indicating that the husband had secured a lucrative contract to be executed.

According to details of the contract purported to have been awarded by Globacom, a telecommunications company in Ghana, the husband was to build dozens of estates and various structures throughout the country.

The amount involved was believed to be running into several millions of dollars and to succeed in their bid, they demanded that Braenda Liouise Branton send down money to pre-finance the project and forged a number of documents to back the claim.

According to information, all this while, Godfred Adjei, currently on the run, posed as the victim’s husband who had been, prior to the execution of the scam, separated from the wife for a number of years.

Convinced her support could reunite them, the victim sold her house and other property valued at $50,000 and sent $35,000 through banker’s draft to the suspects.

Having succeeded in milking the white lady of all her money, they lured her into Ghana under the guise of inspecting work on the ghost or non-existent project sites and also take the opportunity to meet the husband.

On September 2011, she arrived in Ghana and was met at the airport by William Quansah who took her to a hotel around Osu, while Godfred Adjei, on phone, still posed as the husband.

She was later brought to Tamale by suspect Eric Kofi and made to sign several documents purported to have been part of the contractual agreements.

ON THE RUN! Godfred Adjei and Brenda Liouse Branton

The suspect, armed with his dubious intention, stormed Bigiza Hotel and booked a room for the poor woman with the promise of paying later.

Free accommodation formed part of the agreement as contained in one of the documents, which gave her the leverage to stay in any hotel of her choice without payment.

He however failed to honour his promise of settling the bill of GH¢11,478, raising suspicion among owners of the hotel.

A complaint was lodged with the police in Tamale and upon his arrest, it was uncovered that the entire deal was a scam, with several others involved. William Quansah later arrested.

A complaint was also lodged by the victim, deepening the woes of the two suspects.

They were last week arraigned before Tamale District Magistrate Court presided over by Augustine Essah on charges of conspiracy of kidnapping, defrauding by false pretences and stealing.

Their pleas were not taken and were remanded into prison custody to reappear on 10th May 2012.

A Kia Sephia saloon car with registration number GS 54-11 with the inscription ‘Cyber Angel’ on the rear windscreen has been retrieved from the suspects.

Breast Surgeons Back Withdrawal Of 'Lunchtime Boob Job' Jab

Plastic surgeons in the UK have welcomed the decision to discontinue a treatment used in breast enhancements.

Macrolane, an injectable filler used for "lunchtime boob jobs", is to be withdrawn for such purposes this week.

A survey by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) found that 25% of its members noticed patient complications from the filler.

Experts warn it could effect breast cancer screenings but manufacturer Q-Med said there was a lack of consensus.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said Macrolane could effect mammogram readings and make diagnosis more difficult.

A spokesman said there were no safety concerns with the product itself, and it could still be used for other purposes such as "augmenting body contour" and correcting soft tissue defects.

Kennedy Agyapong Saga: Blakk Rasta Is An Idiot + Ken Is My Enemy...Wanlov da Kubolor

Wanlov

A lot has happened politically in Ghana this week. Over the last few days, majority of Ghanaians have not taken it calm on the comments made by Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for the Assin North Constituency on Oman FM.

Speaking on the hullabaloo concerning the Biometric registration, the MP made certain comments that the police consider treasonable and genocidal, hence his arrest and detention.

The comments have had sharp condemnation by various personalities. Also Ghanaians have taken it unto various social media network to share their views on the MP’s utterances.

One of such Ghanaian is musician Wanlov da Kubolor. Obviously not happy with the MP’s comments, tweeted attacking Reggae musician Blakk Rasta whom he had a rift with not too long ago.

He tweeted “I hav never had an enemy…even @blakkrasta is not my enemy…he’s just an idiot, but as 4 ken agyapong dier e b enemy of ghana so enemy of me”

Blakk Rasta also tweeted back asking Wanlov’s manager Panji Anoff to intervene and call his boy to order. That might have infuriated Wanlov to throw more words at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards ‘Best Reggae Song’ winner.

Blakk Rasta then tweeted “..oh if attacking me always satisfies your soul, go on bro! i jus tot man mus focus on more positive tingz..dats all..bless”.

But Wanlov has given Blakk Rasta an ultimatum to apologise to him before he will stop attacking him. He tweeted “Until u apologize 4 yor false report of wat happened at alliance n callin me a cokehead i never go leff yor matter giv u”.

Police Tear-Gas NPP Members...As Party Faithfuls Pelt Them With Stones

NB: This is not the actually scene.

Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin North, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, is likely to spend the night in the custody of the security agencies after being whisked away to an unknown destination.

He was carted away in a police vehicle with license number GP 2619. Strong signals picked however indicate that the Assin North MP has been taken to the BNI Headquarters for further interrogation.

Hundreds of NPP faithfuls besieged the Police Headquarters in Accra demanding the release of the lawmaker amidst chanting war songs.

A few minutes after 7pm, the police resorted to the firing of tear-gas formally known as a lachrymatory agent or lachrymator and water cannons to disperse the crowd.

Peace-Fm's Yaw Obeng Manu, who reported live from the Police Headquarters, was a victim of the tear-gas incident as he occasionally had to halt his report to catch his breath or get his bearings right after being blinded by the non-lethal chemical weapon which stimulated the corneal nerves in the eyes to cause tears and pain.

Hon Kennedy Agyapong being whisked away to an unknown location

According to him, the NPP faithfuls put up a spirited attempt to prevent the police from ostensibly carting the lawmaker away to the "safe" place.

"While the police fired rubber bullets and tear-gas to disperse them, the NPP supporters responded by pelting the officials with stones...in the end the might of the police showed as they were able to whisk the NPP MP away," he narrated.

Meanwhile, another possible clash is imminent as the NPP activists have blocked the main road leading to the BNI offices near the Ghana Immigration Service with huge stones, wooden logs and a huge bonfire.

The police are also said to be deploying more men to break down the "blockade".

How Much Sex Is Enough In A Relationship: Our Sexpert Weighs In

Q: My husband wants to have sex with the lights on. I prefer it pitch-black, but I’d like to give his way a try. How can I feel less self-conscious?

A: First, take your husband's request as a compliment: He clearly finds it a big turn-on to look at you. Men are visual creatures, meaning what they see gets them hot—or not. Given his lights-on preference, your husband isn’t interested in relying on cliched fantasies to be aroused. He wants you, and that’s a great thing, right?

All that said, you have to feel comfortable—with your partner, your body, and the sexual situation—in order to fully enjoy the experience. And, sure, overhead lighting worthy of an operating room may not scream “sexy” to you (or to most of us, for that matter). The key is compromise: Try low-wattage bulbs in bedside lamps or several candles. If you’re very self-conscious about your body and feel too exposed, wear a sexy camisole top that you can take off after the action heats up. It also helps to focus your attention on your guy in the beginning to get the pressure off yourself; then begin to acknowledge your own desires and responses as you relax. Finally, remember that practice makes perfect: The more often you try it, the more natural it will feel for both of you.

Q: It’s been a long time since my husband and I have had sex. But we’re OK with it. Is that normal?

A: There’s no magic number of times per month or week that a couple “should” have sex. But let’s face it: Making love is an integral part of a healthy relationship. For a relationship to stay healthy for the long haul, both partners need to know each other’s sexual needs and put in the effort to meet those needs; a lack of sexual intimacy could very well lead to trouble down the line.

So, have a frank talk about how much sex each of you really wants in order to remain happy—not just “OK”—in your marriage. Be honest and open. And commit to making sex a priority at least a few times a month, even if that means you both have to schedule it like you do a trip to the gym.

Maintaining a sexual relationship is a two-way street: If one of you fails to initiate sex or appears to be simply going through the motions, it can lead to anger, resentment, and emotional and physical detachment. If this sounds familiar, consider seeing a sex therapist together so you can resolve any issues before they hurt your marriage.

Keep Your Breasts Healthy: How To Buy A Better (More Supportive!) Bra

“Eighty percent of the women who walk into my store are wearing the wrong size bra—and they don’t even realize it,” says Dan Koch.

Here, his expert tips on finding the perfect bra.

Be strap savvy
The thicker the shoulder strap, the more support it gives; this is crucial for full figures (D cup and up). Also, straps should be adjusted to stay put without pressure or cutting.

Get the right cup
A bra’s cups should completely contain the breasts and fit smoothly, with no bulges at the top, sides, or bottom. The ideal bra is one with molded cups; they’re the least visible underneath clothes, and they offer the most support.

Don’t ignore seams. They actually provide a lot of support.

Test for fit. Proof of a good fit? When you sit down, the position of your bra doesn’t change.

Look for gaps
The center of the bra (the piece that connects the two cups in the front) should lie flat against the breastbone, without leaving a gap between the torso and the bra. If it protrudes in the center, the bra is too small; try a larger cup size.

Check underwires
They should relieve shoulder stress from bra straps by adding support below the breast. Also, they should fit to the rib cage and not cut into breast tissue.

Watch your back

The back strap should be completely straight and rest at or below shoulder blades for maximum support. If it’s riding up, the bra is too big. If it feels tight, 75 percent of the time a larger cup size is needed, not a larger bra.

Wear G-strings once in a while

Vagina care should be an essential daily routine in every woman’s life. There isn’t any secret for keeping the vagina clean. Washing it regularly with water and a gentle soap should keep you comfortable in your skin.

What goes in and close to the vagina is as important as what comes out of the vagina. In fact what goes in your body and around your valve area determines what come out.

A vagina well taken care of will only have scentless natural body fluids to discharge according to your menstrual cycle.

One of the things that interact with our vaginas on a daily basis are panties. I know there are girls who go around ‘pantyless’ because they don’t want panty lines showing in their outfits.

Your fashion concern is important yet the best solution to an outfit with no panty lines showing is not to entirely take panties out of your wardrobe.

Other women try to solve this fashion crisis with G-strings. There are some girls who have only G-strings, which is also known as thongs in their panty drawer. This is by no means a good thing.

G-strings are trendy yet health professionals caution that it be worn once is a while only.

Experts say that because a G-string is a close-fitting strip of fabric, it can easily transport bacteria and fecal matter from the rectum/anus to the vagina and the urinary tract if it slides forward.

According to WebMD Women Health, if you are having issues with diarrhea or other gastrointestinal trouble, it may be particularly wise to save the thong for another day.

Also, leaving a tampon in your vagina for longer than eight hours according to experts can lead to toxic shock syndrome (TSS), an infection caused by bacteria. Symptoms of TSS include, high fever, lightheadedness or fainting, a sunburn-like rash, vomiting or diarrhea, severe muscle aches or muscle weakness, redness in the eyes, mouth, throat and vagina; headache, and disorientation.

Menstrual pads must be changed every four hours to avoid irritation and other infections. Douching is not recommended by doctors.
Apart from the fact that it changes the pH balance of your vagina, which can lead to yeast infections, “it may also spread an infection to your uterus and increase your risk of PID, an infection of a woman’s pelvic organs”.

The vagina has its natural smell. If you keep your vulva and vulva area clean, you would have nothing to worry about. Any odor you notice maybe because of an infection or that your vulva area needs better cleaning. Just use water and a gentle soap.

You should talk to a doctor when you notice anything unusual with your vagina. The vagina is not a hard thing to keep clean, don’t stress yourself doing all sorts of needless things to it.

Mzbel and friends convicted

The Motor Court in Accra on Tuesday convicted Mzbel, a popular female musician, and two others for traffic-related offences.

Mzbel, known in private life as Nana Akua Amoah, Maxwell Mensah, a businessman, and Emmanuel Edem Lordzoh, a student, were consequently fined a total of GH¢1,600 or in default face various terms in prison.

The three were arrested in June 2011 and put before court for assaulting a police officer and obstructing a police officer from executing his duties.

They had pleaded not guilty to the offences but changed their pleas when they appeared before the court in Accra Tuesday.

Their lawyer, Mr Addo Atuah, had pleaded for mitigation but the prosecutor in the case, Chief Inspector Dora Seiwaah, opposed the plea and argued that Mzbel had released a new song taunting police officers.

Mr Atuah, however, reminded the court that the convicts were not in court in connection with a song allegedly taunting police officers.

He said his clients were first offenders because they had never had a brush with the law, as well as apologised to the affected police officer.

The court took counsel’s submission into consideration and fined the convicts. They paid the imposed fine and walked off as free persons some few minutes after the court had imposed the fine.

Mzbel and the others were first arraigned before the court on June 6, 2011 but were refused bail and remanded in custody.

They, however, went to the High Court and were granted bail. They had been reporting themselves to the court since June 2011 and during the court’s sitting in Accra Tuesday, they changed their plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’.

Mzbel had been charged on two counts of assaulting a police officer and obstructing a police officer from executing his duties. She faced an additional count of abetment of crime.

Mensah was charged with four counts of unauthorised parking, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer, while Lordzoh was charged with driving without licence.

The convicts were said to have committed the offence with a Mitsubishi vehicle, with registration number GR 9470-11, at Tudu in Accra about 12.40 p.m. on June 4, 2011

Kwesi Appiah Appointed New Black Stars Coach

Kwesi Appiah

The Ghana Football Association has appointed Kwesi Appiah as the permanent coach of the Black Stars.

This comes after a three-week headhunting process to find a successor for Serbian Goran Stevanovic-who was dismissed last month.

The ex-Ghana captain was appointed based on his experience with the team.

A Ghana FA statement read: “The Ghana Football Association has appointed James Kwesi Appiah as the substantive head coach of the Black Stars.

“The Executive Committee of the GFA confirmed the appointment of the former international at a meeting in Accra on Monday.

“The meeting was called to discuss the head-hunting exercise undertaken by the GFA to find a permanent Black Stars coach.

“Appiah will meet the Executive Committee of the GFA on Tuesday, 10 April, to formalize the deal.”

Former France captain Marcel Desailly, Carlos Dunga, Sven Goran Eriksson and Sellas Tetteh were linked with the coaching job at one point in time.

Appiah has been the assistant coach of the Black Stars since 2008 and was on the bench at the last FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa.

He led Ghana’s Olympic team to win a historic gold medal at the 2011 All Africa Games.

Pastor's Suggestion For Easter Celebration: Have Sex & Eat Chocolate

Father Phil Ritchie
Commandment: Father Phil Ritchie told worshippers Easter Sunday is the perfect time to eat chocolate, enjoy a lie-in and have sex
This could be one religious commandment that a congregation might find very easy to follow.

Father Phil Ritchie from All Saints Church in Hove, East Sussex, has said Easter Sunday is the perfect time for staying in bed, eating chocolate and having sex.

The vicar gave the alternative suggestion for a way to celebrate the resurrection of Christ after admitting that church just isn’t ‘cool and funky’.

Father Ritchie said: ‘The problem with the church is that we stay inside our building and occasionally come out and say “Why don’t you come to our church, it’s cool and funky”.

‘To be honest, it’s not.

‘I would love more people to come at 10am on Sunday and I would welcome them to All Saints.

‘For Christians this is the most important day of the year. All life and all hope flows from it.

‘But there are plenty of ways to celebrate without coming to a draughty Victorian building. So why not stay at home, have a lie in, have sex and eat some chocolate.’

The dad-of-three’s take on the Easter holiday comes as congregations in across the country continue to fall.

Annual figures for Sunday worship in Sussex show a steady decline of about two per cent.

For the Church of England’s Diocese of Chichester, which includes Brighton and Hove, Worthing, Arundel, Bognor and Chichester, an average of 39,100 attended each Sunday in 2008.

In 2009 that went down to 38,100 before falling again to 37,300 in 2010.The Church of England statistics also reveal that nearly twice as many people in the diocese go to their local church to celebrate Christmas than go at Easter.

In 2010, 113,600 turned up on Christmas Day compared to just 61,100 on Easter Sunday.

Average weekly attendance in the rest of the UK has fallen year on year with 1,160,000 attending in 2007 and 923,700 in 2010 according to latest figures.

In the past 40 years, the number of adult churchgoers has halved, while the number of children attending regular worship has declined by four fifths.

Bill Mcllroy, from the Brighton and Hove Humanist Society, added: ‘It’s just another opportunity to break the routine and enjoy yourself.

‘For Christians it’s a glorious celebration but I think it’s terrible that they mark what is essentially a festival of blood and gore.

‘I also think it is disgraceful that churches hold these mock crucifixions in front of children. They had one on the beach last year and it’s not something that children should have to see.’

I Had Sex With Rooney's Threesome Hooker - Balotelli

Secrets ... Mario Balotelli with Girlfriend Raffaella Fico

SOCCER’S Mario Balotelli cheated on his model girlfriend by having sex with Wayne Rooney threesome hooker Jennifer Thompson.

The Manchester City star, 21, bedded Jennifer, 24, even though he once taunted her over her 2010 romp with Man U’s Rooney.

The footie bad boy slept with Jennifer two days before he declared his love for his long-term girlfriend in front of 47,000 fans.

The striker met former escort girl Jennifer five times and had sex with her twice behind the back of gorgeous model Raffaella Fico, The Sun can reveal. Jennifer became notorious in 2010 when it was revealed Manchester United superstar Wayne Rooney paid her and hooker pal Helen Wood £1,200 for a seedy threesome in a hotel.

Two days after bedding Jennifer, Italian Balotelli lifted his Man City shirt when he scored against Blackburn Rovers to reveal a scrawled message reading “Raffaella Ti Amo” — meaning “Raffaella, I love you”.

Five days after that the goal ace was seen in a strip club. And the following day he met party girl Jennifer again, though they did not have sex on that occasion. Their relationship was unlikely given Balotelli taunted her about her threesome with Rooney when he spotted her in a restaurant last year. Shocked diners heard him chant “Rooney, Rooney” at her as she walked past tables.

Balotelli finally called time on the fling after revealing he had a regular girlfriend.

A friend of Jennifer said: “It wasn’t just a one-off. Jenny saw Mario five or so times and they had sex twice.

“The first time was after a night out in Manchester and he invited her back to a party at his mansion. A fair bit of champagne was flowing and things moved on from there. “Jenny had no idea he had a girlfriend. He was acting like a single man. He knew she was the girl who had the threesome with Rooney. But that didn’t put him off at all. He asked her all about it.”

The pal added: “Jenny was stunned Mario was interested in her. The last time they met in the restaurant he had been really nasty to her. But Mario was all smiles and charming. He turned it on and Jenny was flattered.

Jennifer, Rooney & wife Coleen

“Mario is the biggest star in football and he wanted to be with her. Jenny has been burned by her involvement with footballers before but she fell for it. “He was caring, loving, sensual and made her feel special. But she hasn’t seen him since her birthday last month. One night he told her about Raffaella and that was the end of it.”

Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola yesterday admitted the player had a “brief involvement” with Jennifer. He called Balotelli “young and impulsive” and claimed he was a target for girls who “chase” footballers.

Mr Raiola added: “Mario prefers to admit what has happened, has refused any means to try to keep the matter silent and will deal with any consequences his actions bring in the way of public attention.”

Rooney had his hotel threesome while his wife Coleen was pregnant. And for a time, it left their marriage on a knife edge.

Mali coup leader restores constitution

Malian soldiers pictured inside a military camp in Kati near Bamako.

Under pressure to hand over power, the leader of a military coup in Mali said Sunday that he had reinstated the country's constitution and government institutions, as rebels continued their advance in the north.

Capt. Amadou Aya Sanogo said in a statement that the coup's leaders would begin "consultations" to form a transitional government, which will be "responsible for organizing peaceful, free open and democratic elections in which we will not participate."

The statement did not specify when the meetings or the elections would be held.

Leaders of neighboring West African nations have condemned the coup and ordered the military junta to hand over power back to the civilian government by Monday or face sanctions.

Sanogo's announcement came as rebels in Mali said they had seized control of another town in the north, Timbuktu -- a major blow to the coup leaders who toppled the nation's president last month.

Residents said government soldiers withdrew from the area ahead of the attack.

On Saturday, the Tuareg rebels said they seized the key town of Gao, which is hundreds of miles from the capital of Bamako.

The fall of both towns marks a major prize for the fighters seeking to wrest control of the region to make it their homeland and intensifies the crisis in the West African nation after soldiers ousted the president March 22 over what they said is his inability to handle the Tuareg rebellion in the north.

In a statement during the coup, they accused President Amadou Toumani Toure of "incapacity" in battling the rebels, saying he did not equip soldiers with the means to quash the growing Tuareg insurgency.

Sanogo reiterated concerns over the rebels in his statement Sunday.

"We are very concerned about the attacks carried out by various armed groups in the north of Mali and determined to defend, whatever it costs, the territorial integrity of our country," he said.

Tuareg rebels comprise different factions, including the main National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad, which claimed the seizures of Gao and Timbuktu.

In the group's statement claiming control of Timbuktu, it called for dialogue with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to help re-establish peace.

The influx of Tuareg fighters returning from Libya has re-energized the insurgency, whose battles with government forces have sent tens of thousands of Malians fleeing into neighboring countries.

WOYOME SCANDAL: ‘Secret Letter’ To Prez Mills

… Woyome Is So Concerned With His Own Glorification That He Does Not Realise What Turmoil He Generates & The Ammunition He Provides To The Opposition! – Says M-Powapak CEO.
The Special Investigations Team (SIT) of The New Crusading GUIDE has intercepted a ‘confidential letter’ dated December 19, 2011 authored by Mr. Ray Smith, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of M-Powapak Ltd., to the President of Ghana, Professor J.E.A. Mills, concerning ‘the matter of Alfred Agbesi Woyome’. (See below for the full text of the letter under reference).

The letter which was accompanied by a ten (10) page ‘confidential document’ titled: “FACTS AND OBSERVATIONS IN THE MATTER OF ALFRED AGBESI WOYOME’, accused Mr. Woyome of “generating unnecessary havoc” and being “more interested in his own misguided political ambitions than working truly in the best interest of his party”.

“Over the years I have had close relationship with the person (Woyome) and I wish to make known to you (President Mills) the facts surrounding this matter since there is so much speculation and untruth being released in the public domain which is far from the best interest of your government”, indicated Mr. Smith in his letter to President Mills.

Underscoring that his (Smith’s) correspondence to the President was “very strictly a personal view”, Mr. Smith nonetheless hoped that “the attached document will be of some assistance to your investigation”.

In the attached ten (10) page ‘confidential document’, Mr. Smith, began by explaining the rationale for his decision to assist investigations into the ‘matter of Alfred Agbesi Woyome’ since it was his “understanding that this is currently of interest or importance to the Government since it is a potential source of embarrassment to the party (NDC) which must be dealt with”.

“In view of the fact that I and my wife have had years of contact with Woyome I believe that I can provide useful information. I will be as brief as possible to give some insight as to the character of this person (Woyome) and also to correct issues which he obviously interpreted wrongly during his various statements in the media”, volunteered Mr. Smith.

Mr. Smith recalled how well before he and his wife met Mr. Woyome, the two of them (‘the Smiths’) had been instrumental in introducing an Austrian Healthcare company to provide Regional Hospitals with concessionary finance provided by the Austrian Government.

“After Parliamentary approval the supply contracts were signed in December 1999. Following this we were introduced to H.E. the President Atta Mills, at the time Vice-President, and he kindly arranged for us to present development possibilities in a meeting of the State Council. As I recall this was some 3 months before Government changed hands in 2000”, Smith took the President on a trip down memory lane.

Mr. Smith said when they (he & his wife) met Mr. Woyome in February 2001, he (Woyome) complained that he had just formed a cleaning company with a Ghanaian businessman situated at GCB-Towers, but his (Woyome’s) partner had cheated on him and he (Woyome) wanted to withdraw.

“He was driving a very old car and was mostly accompanied by his brother Kobby Woyome. He obviously was embarrassed about the condition of his car and explained that he needed such a car as a disguise as his work does not permit him to drive a new car”, disclosed Mr. Smith.

He said from then onwards their relationship with Mr. Woyome developed into a friendship because he appeared to be a very genuine person with a passion to support Ghana’s social and economic development.

“He gave every indication that he was a trustworthy person. On this basis we worked together very well for a long time”, added Smith.

Narrating how Mr. Woyome was appointed a Hon. Vice-Consul for Austria in Ghana, Mr. Smith indicated that his wife, Mrs. Smith who was the Hon. Consul of Austria was at the time overloaded with the volume of work to be done and in the year 2004 it was recognised that a Hon. Vice Consul was necessary to ease the burden on her and she was requested to find a suitable person for the position of a Hon. Vice-Consul.

He explained further that because it was impossible to find a suitable Austrian National for the position of Hon. Vice Consul or a fluent German-speaker with the appropriate qualifications and characteristics, Mr. Woyome, “although not a German speaking was seen to have the right attitude towards Austrian/Ghanaian relations and therefore, provided that he could provide a suitable German-speaker, and cover his share of administrative costs, he could be considered for the position of Honorary Vice-Consul”.

Mrs. Smith, according to Mr. Smith, made such proposal which in fact was accepted by the Austrian Government. A contract was subsequently issued which Mr. Woyome accepted with all its conditions. One of the conditions which was verbally explained by a former Ambassador in Abidjan was that Mr. Woyome must share the operating costs of the Consulate with the Hon. Consul. Mr. Smith gave examples of Mr. Woyome’s chronic failure to fulfil the conditions of the contract, and indicated that Mr. Woyome’s claim in the media that he (Woyome) “controlled and financed” the Austrian Consulate was false.

He recalled that following his formal appointment by the Government of Austria, it was found that Mr. Woyome was advertising or projecting himself as “‘H.E’. Mr. A. Woyome”, and he had even placed that inscription or designation on his name-plate on the gates of his residence at Caprice in Accra”.

“Mr. Woyome was strongly advised to remove this and desist from the title since he was not entitled to be addressed as HIS EXCELLENCY in the position of the Hon. Vice-Consul. This appeared to have no effect and rumour had it that he was parading himself as “HIS EXCELLENCY” Consul Woyome in the Volta Region where he appeared to have influence. Also upon his appointment it was made very clear to Mr. Woyome that as an Hon. Vice-Consul he must be seen to have no participation in party politics whatsoever, in accordance with his diplomatic role requirements. In hindsight it is now clear that the above were ignored by Mr. Woyome and his position was manipulated in favour of personal interests and ambitions”, underscored Mr. Smith.

The term of Mr. Woyome’s appointment as Honorary Vice-Consul, Mr. Smith emphasised, “ended on November 11, 2008 and it was not renewed by the Austrian Government”.

Mr. Smith also recalled how Mr. Woyome informed them (‘the Smiths’) that his brother, Kobby Woyome had intentions to contest the parliamentary seat for South Tongu. He said this disclosure surprised them because in “our private opinion Kobby Woyome was entirely unsuitable to run as an MP”. However, Mr. Alfred Woyome, according to “the Smiths”, “answered that he (Alfred Woyome) could get a lot of power through the position of his brother”.

“A lot of cash was needed and listening to rumours, many unpleasant things happened during the campaign”, intimated “the Smiths”.

Mr. Smith also gave an account of how during his absence from Ghana for four months in 2007, Mr. Woyome, his brother, Kobby and his (Smith’s) company’s book-keeper, one Eugene Gbemu had colluded to manipulate the company (M-Powapak Ltd.)’s financial records resulting in the company suffering huge financial losses.

“Alfred Woyome was faced with the evidence. To settle matters amicably and to cover his family interests he stated that he would take responsibility to replace all missing cash assets. This was in April/May 2008. These assets were later determined to be, after forensic audit, a total of GH¢245,450 (At this time the exchange rate to the USD was 1:1)”, Smith indicated in his 10-page ‘Confidential Document’ to President Mills.

He said it was only in November 2011 that Mr. Woyome found it necessary to redeem his pledge to replace the missing cash even though he failed to pay interest or loss of earnings that M-Powapak had suffered. He said Mr. Woyome redeemed his pledge because of the threat of legal action.

Mr. Smith said the consequence of the theft was as follows: “(a) Due to repeated promises of re-payment the accounts of M-Powapak Ltd. for 2008 were not completed, could not be; (b) If completed, the IRS would have investigated the reported shortfalls and the facts would have had to be made known; (c) With the continued non-payment all subsequent years of M-Powapak’s annual accounts have not been submitted, due to carry-over; (d) Any revelation of the facts would have led to serious repercussions for both Woyomes – and, especially perhaps, brought embarrassment to the party as Alfred Woyome and Kobby Woyome are known party members”.

“THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE MATTER IS THAT ALFRED WOYOME, KOBBY WOYOME AND M-POWAPAK’S BOOK-KEEPER WERE COLLECTIVELY INVOLVED IN CRIMINAL ACTIVITY. ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE WERE RELUCTANT TO TAKE THE MATTER TO COURT EARLIER WAS ANOTHER ASPECT. ALFRED WOYOME TOLD US CONSTANTLY THAT HE HAS EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL. HE HAS HIS PEOPLE IN THE NATIONAL SECURITY, BNI, CID, THE POLICE, ETC”, revealed Mr. Smith.

He further disclosed that Mr. Woyome had also claimed that he (Woyome) had used the ‘missing money’ to “protect” them (the Smiths/M-Powapak) even though “he could never explain from what or of whom he had to protect us and certainly this is a fabricated story as there was no reason for such payments in our name…”

The 10-page ‘Confidential Document’ to President Mills also focused on the controversial GH¢51.2m judgement debt claim Mr. Woyome made against the Government of Ghana.

Mr. Smith made an interesting revelation to the effect that Mr. Woyome’s personal motivation for pursuing the GH¢51.2 claim against the Government of Ghana was that in the event that their joint (Woyome & Austro-Invest Management – AIM) claim succeeded then there would be a valid case for persons in previous government (NPP Administration) to be held liable for “Loss to the State”.

“Together we were responsible for the financing of projects which in hindsight were illegally cancelled by the previous Government. This has proven, by recent events, to be admitted. Clearly there was a case to be brought against the GoG for suitable recompense. THE POSITION TAKEN BY MR. WOYOME WAS THAT, IN THE EVENT OF SUCH A CASE BEING SUCCESSFUL, THEN THERE WAS A VALID CASE OF PERSONS IN THE PREVIOUS GOVERNMENT BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR ‘LOSS TO THE STATE’. AND THIS WAS THE DETERMINATION OF MR. WOYOME FOR HIS PERSONAL REASONS. Under these circumstances there was no way in which the Directors of M-Powapak, both expatriates, and one of whom being Austrian Consul, the other, Director of AIM, could possibly contemplate involvement. IT WAS THEREFORE AGREED THAT MR. WOYOME WOULD PROCEED IN HIS NAME ALONE ON THE BASIS OF GOOD FAITH, AND IN VIEW OF THIS AN AGREEMENT WAS ESTABLISHED TO SHARE FUTURE PROCEEDS IN THE RATIO 5/9 – 4/9”, articulated Smith in one of the attached documents to the main 10-page ‘Confidential Document’.

He further revealed in the main ‘Confidential Document’ that when the court decided that their joint claim was justified they (‘the Smiths’) expected Mr. Woyome to fulfil the agreement Austro-Invest Management (AIM) and Mr. Woyome had signed. However, after many reminders and pressure, Mr. Woyome’s Lawyer wrote to ‘the Smiths’ to outline some expenses that had allegedly already been made out of the total amount won by a court order.

“Apart from an enormous sum of approximately 3.9 million Ghana Cedis for lawyers’ cost, an amount of Euro 2 million was for ‘other expenses’. We were astonished when we read this and requested Mr. Woyome through his lawyer to explain what this amount was used for. After three weeks and numerous reminders to Mr. Koka (Woyome’s Lawyer) we received another letter informing us that we are not entitled to any amount because we did nothing for the syndication and financial engineering of the projects,” lamented Mr. Smith to President Mills.

He indicated that in view of Mr. Woyome’s failure to respect the agreement, they instructed their solicitor, Mr. Tony Lithur to institute legal action to compel Mr. Woyome to pay them their share of the GH¢51.2 million judgement debt, and also to claim interest as the payment for the claim was done many months ago.

“…It is time that Mr. Woyome understands that he cannot rule the world and that justice to all his doings has to be done. In regard to the CAN 2008 support, everything is well documented and is in the hands of our Lawyer, Mr. Tony Lithur”, Smith declared.

“Finally, I like to say that knowing Mr. Woyome so well it becomes very clear to us that he is prepared to use anyone and any situation to achieve his personal ambitions regardless of party policy and sensibility. If he continues on his present path he can only generate more damage than good. He is so concerned with his own glorification that he does not realise what turmoil he generates and the ammunition he provides to the opposition. Because he cannot keep his mouth shut he is far from being an asset to the present Government; only a source of unnecessary embarrassment…,” emphasised Mr. Ray Smith

NPP Expels Ex-MP

The Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Mampong Constitution, Abum Sarkodie has been expelled from the opposition party.

The ex-MP has been ejected from the party, following his decision to contest as an independent parliamentary candidate in the upcoming general elections, which is in contravention with the rules and regulations of the party.

A statement issued and signed by the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, Samuel Pyne noted that the decision of the party to expel the former MP was rooted in Article 3 H (i), of the party’s constitution, which states: “A member of the party who stands as an independent candidate against the officially selected candidate of the party, or who joins or declares his or her support for another political party, or an independent candidate when the party has sponsored a candidate in a general election or by-election, automatically forfeits his or her membership of the party.”

Sarkodie contested the 2008 primaries and lost to the eventual winner and now MP for the area, Mr. Addai Nimoh, and has since cried foul over his defeat, culminating in his decision to go independent, despite several pleas from the party hierarchy.

The statement by the party noted that Mr. Sarkodie and any member or group of members who associate with him contravene Article 3 H (I) and shall be dealt accordingly, in line with the party’s constitution.

The party further warned the ex-MP to refrain from using the red, blue and white colours, which are the officially registered colours of the NPP, since it is also in contravention of the country’s electoral laws.

“We wish to state finally, that the national, regional and Mampong constituency NPP have no hand in Mr. Abum Sarkodie’s action, whoever associates him/herself with him does so at his or her own peril,” the statement concluded.
