MADTIME Speaks On Kwaw Kese & VIP Fracas At "Nite With The Stars"

Kwaw Kese with bikini-clad ladies on stage during JoyFM's Nite With The Stars
Over the years, Kwaw Kese has been known to thrill and entertain his fans with creative stagecraft and fun performances. Last Saturday’s Joy FM Nite with the Stars was no exception. Kwaw came on stage with a bevy of ladies whose ‘attire’ spelt MAD TIME – the entertainment label managed by Kwaw Kese.

In the spirit of creative ‘competition’ of the show which was dubbed ‘Accra vs. Tema’ and which pitted Kwaw Kese against VIP, Kwaw also brought on stage a banner with VIP written on it. Kwaw stood on this banner to depict that in Ghana’s entertainment industry, he was a true VIP too.

For some unfortunate reason, VIP took this creative expression out of context and resorted to violence, with members of their entourage violently demanding that Kwaw go on stage to apologize for his act. In order not to interrupt the event and also to ensure that sanity prevailed, Kwaw and his entourage left the premises of the Accra International Conference Centre Dome.

The acts of violence did not stop, however. Other musicians and fellow stars were also attacked at the Dome. The popular MC Commotion suffered violence just because he was a hype man for Kwaw Kese and in the process lost his phone and money. Other personalities can testify to slaps and other unruly acts committed against them.

In this atmosphere of intimidation and violent expression, Sarkodie and R2Bees who tried to act as peacemakers suffered unnecessary threats of violence. We, at MAD TIME, appreciate their solidarity and call on Ghanaians not to bash them for not performing because no one will feel safe in a tense, violent and irrational atmosphere.

VIP

We at MAD TIME are calling on VIP to condemn these acts perpetrated by thugs affiliated to them. We are calling on VIP to affirm their belief in creative competition without the need to resort to barbaric violence. While VIP might feel safe in NIMA, Kwaw Kese and other entertainers also have fans from Nima to Ashaiman to Swedru and many other parts of Ghana who may want to attack VIP in retaliation.

Violence begets violence and retaliation and in the run-up to our national elections, we urge musicians and every other sector of society to denounce and eschew violence and rather seek peaceful dialogue to resolve any differences they might have.

We urge Ghanaians who were not in the shoes of Sarkodie and R2Bees shoes not to insult or denigrate them for their refusal to perform in midst of intimidation.

We also urge event organizers to ensure adequate security at all events to ensure that no unruly thug can threaten the life of a musician just for his or her creative expression.

We must learn to appreciate showbiz and entertainment as an area that has no space for violence in this day and age.

VIP Release Statement On "Nite With The Stars" Fracas

VIP

The management of Ghana’s award winning group, Vision In Progress, popularly known as VIP is calling on its fans across the country and beyond who are outraged by some unfortunate developments that occurred at the Night With The Stars Show organized over the weekend by Joy Fm to calm down and exercise maximum restraint no matter the level of provocation they may encounter.

VIP has received reports of an alleged attack on some persons after the show and certain entertainment personalities including one, Commotion also alleged to be one of the attacked persons.

Though without any evidence whatsoever, some persons have accused fans of VIP of being responsible for the attacks.

If indeed it was true that VIP fans were behind the attacks, VIP categorically condemns such incidents and is calling on its fans not to engage in such behaviour. VIP does not subscribe to using violence of any form for any reason. The group believes in dialogue as the best means of addressing challenges.

The group has over years maintained a reputation as one of Africa’s non-violent entertainment group. Truly it has never been cited in any form of violence or any violent act. Also it has track-record of never disrespecting anybody in the Ghana’s entertainment industry.

VIP is recognized as Ghana’s earliest hip life group that derives its unit and purpose from a small community called Nima.

They are not violent and have further proven that by representing Ghana and African on various continental stages. Never have they been indicted for any violent acts.

VIP assures fans it would not do anything to compromise of the respect the brand has earned over the years.

The group expects persons fueling these attacks to put an immediate stop to it. It was regrettable that, Promzy, a VIP member, had his car vandalized at the venue just after the Night With The Stars event.

Though the group has a fair idea where this is most likely to have come from, the group trusts Ghana Police Service to best handle the matter.

Once again, VIP is grateful for the support it has enjoyed from the fans, public and media over the years. May God bless our music industry and the entire nation as we are preparing for 2012 General Elections.

Signed:

Kwaw Kesse And VIP Clash At “Nite With The Stars": The Untold Story! +Videos

Kwaw Kesse at Nite with the stars

Obviously Joy FM, organizers of the annual “Night with the Stars” event did not expect a violent ending when they decided to tag two very popular suburbs Accra and Tema against each other on stage to entertain their fans. Over the years, the event has always been a straight forward musical concert without any competition whatsoever. Even when there was, it was only through SMS from their fans. So one would wonder why the organizers decided to promote such a competition among rappers when violence and confrontations have always been part of the history of the rap game all over the world, and it has always been between two areas. For instance, West Coast and East Coast in American hip hop history.

Why would the organizers, in an election year and more especially a few days to elections when tensions are high and the political atmosphere has reached its peak, put up such a competition at a time when everybody is preaching peace.

In the promo ahead of the event, organizers tagged VIP (A group of three) representing Accra against solo artiste Kwaw Kesse from Tema, Sarkodie (Tema) against Samini from Accra, Tiffany (Tema) against Eazzy from Accra, Buk Bak from Accra against R2Bees from Tema, EL (Tema) against D-Black (Accra) and Keche (Tema) against Double (Accra).

Whiles some of the artistes saw this as just a musical battle which may be limited to the stage others also saw it as a strong competition and decided to show their supremacy on stage through their stage craft, whiles others showed their supremacy physically.

The show was started by winner of the MTN Hit Maker contest, the talented Naterial as the first act, Keche took over the stage with their sensational dancers working out great dance moves, to their popular hits "Aluguntugui", “Pressure” and "Sorkode".

One of the hottest Hip Life duos, Double and Dr. Slim followed up and showed the crowd why they own the song of the moment “Seke” with some fantastic dance moves. D-Black, the Ghana Buoy who has been criticized for poor stage performance, tried very hard to impress and indeed the "Vera" man didn't disappoint. EL of “Kaalu” fame also did his bit as well as Tiffany and Eazzy who brought sexiness on stage.

Everything was going on smoothly until it was the turn of ‘MadMan’ Kwaw Kesse, aka Abodam, to mount the stage. Known for his stunning stagecraft a total of seven hot models in black bikini came on stage one after the other. The first model came on stage holding a banner with the inscription “Parental Guidance (PG)” written boldly on it, before the remaining six models came on stage.

Each bikini had a letter, and when the women stood in a line, the models formed the word MADTIME. The last model also brought a red and white banner bearing the inscription “VIP,” boldly written on it, and with back facing the crowd spread it on the floor and the “Nonsense” rapper who appeared on stage with an original IBF title around his waist and stepped on the VIP banner on the floor, and performed his hits after hits from “Odeim”, “Poppin”, “Nonsense” to “Let Me Do My Thing”. An act he (Kwaw) describes as “creative expression in the spirit of creative competition”. The same act which turned the beautiful show into violence backstage.

This did not go down well with VIP because they described Kwaw Kesse’s act as insulting and a sign of disrespect to the brand VIP. According Peacefmonline.com about four well-built men believed to be followers of Nima based VIP, went into Kwaw Kesse’s dressing room backstage after his performance to express their anger, and demanded that he goes back on stage to apologize to VIP in the presence of R2Bees and Sarkodie.

The group VIP came on stage immediately after Kwaw Kese, and they couldn’t have performed without registering their displeasure on stage. “Let me tell you what you don’t know, backstage Kwaw Kesse knelt down begging us but we know he is from the ghetto and he knows what it takes to be a man. If you are not ready to go for war don’t try” VIP threw a jab at Kwaw Kesse.

Obviously not too happy about the ‘unnecessary’ competition created among the musicians they had this to tell the organizers “We are doing this for Ghana we don’t care about any Accra and Tema competetion. We are aiming high to raise the flag of Ghana high and don’t have time for any Accra- Tema. So Joy FM the next time you organize this show, make sure the upcoming artistes respect us”, they said.

The group obviously agitated by Kwaw Kesse’s actions they couldn’t control their temper as they used the ‘F’ word on Kwaw at some point during their performance. One of them said “F**k Kwaw Kesse” on stage to the surprise everybody present.

Nonetheless, the talented trio, with the support of dancers costumed in military uniforms, wowed the crowd as they danced to their various hits back to back. The crowed danced and sang along “Besin”, “I think I like am”, “Away”, “Ahomka” among others.

After the performance, the verbal exchange turned into physical violence when Promzy, a member of VIP, realized that both headlights of his car had been smashed and Kwaw and his entourage had already left the premises of the Accra International Conference Centre Dome.

Samini and Buk Bak both from Accra who were the remaining artistes for the night and performed for their fans in spite of the violence going on backstage. Buk Bak was first to appear on stage played their hits from the 90’s and the 2000’s, and finally dropped “Kolom”.

Samini who was undoubtedly the best performer on the night, took over the stage and made it his. The “Sweet Mistake” singer performed to the audience who even forgot there was any violence going on backstage. He started with “Tempo”, “Sweet mistake,” “Odo,” and “Where my baby dey,” and even performed a ‘Peace’ song he did for the elections and for Peace.

After Samini’s performance DJ Black announced officially that Sarkodie and R2Bees have refused to perform, due to the incident backstage and had to end prematurely.

In this atmosphere of intimidation and violent Sarkodie and R2Bees who were on stand-by to performed tried to act as peacemakers but they suffered unnecessary threats of violence and they both decided to pull out of the show. They refused to perform in solidarity to Kwaw Kesse.

However, the confrontation between teams of Kwaw Kesse and VIP had gotten physical which became a huge concern for members of R2Bess and Sarkodie’s team fearing what could happen when they mounts the stage.

Fearing the escalation of the situation as there weren’t enough security personnel to bring the situation under control and according to them, they notified members of the Joy FM team of their concerns, hoping it would be resolved for the safety of Sarkodie, R2bees and their management members but the organizers were not forthcoming with any solution and security was becoming worse by the minute so they had boycott the show for their lives.

Managements of Kwaw Kesse, Sarkodie and VIP have all issued different press statements on the issue but organizers Joy FM who are the power behind all these have still not issued any official statement.

Gbevlo-Lartey: There's No UN Report On Côte D'Ivoire Indicting Ghana

National Security Coordinator, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (rtd)
The National Security Coordinator, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (rtd), says it is very “naïve” on the part of some politicians to document and bandy about statements attributed to associates of a group engaged by the United Nations, as official report of the highly-recognized international organization.

Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (rtd) was emphatic that the supposed UN report on La Cote d'Ivoire which appears to be the main source of information for these “naïve” individuals cannot be said to be an official UN document.

It would be recalled that at the just ended Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) organised Presidential Debate, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, cited a UN report on La Cote d'Ivoire accusing Ghana of having allowed insurgents to use its territory while planning subversive actions against the constitutionally elected government in the Ivory Coast.

He also slammed the “dzi wo fi asem” (mind you own business, in Akan) policy of the NDC administration and the somewhat passive role Ghana played in resolving the political crisis in that country.

But questioning the credibility of the “supposed UN report” which indicted Ghana for allegedly harbouring dissidents plotting to unseat the Ivorian government, Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (retired), told JoyFM in an interview during the airing of Newsfile, a news analysis programme that the sources quoted in the report are unreliable.

Dzi wo fi asem

He explained that portions of the report being referred to are transcripts of statements attributed to associates of the group engaged by the UN, who had planned to meet Ghanaian authorities on July 24th 2012 for their input.

Unfortunately, he said, tragedy hit the nation since that was the same date President John Atta Mills died.

The former military capo thus expressed pleasant surprise at the level of falsehood being peddled by some politicians regarding alleged strained relationship between Ghana and La Cote d'Ivoire after the ousting of Laurent Gbagbo.

“Even throughout the conflict with President Gbagbo’s people, it is our people (sic) who were protecting President Ouatara while he was locked up in that hotel. It was our people who were providing him protection…..The EC (in Ghana) is even looking for helicopters, our helicopters are in Cote D’Ivoire serving President Ouatara,” Col. Gbevlo-Lartey disclosed.

The National Security Co-ordinator further stated that 'Dzi wo fie asem' has never been the country’s foreign policy but was the best option available for the late President Mills to embrace at the zenith of the Ivorian impasse.

“There was this issue about sending troops outside the UN auspices to go into Cote d'Ivoire to fight and President Mills lightly said if the UN asked him for more troops to go to Cote d'Ivoire, he would succumb. But if he was to go unilaterally, to send troops to now fight…against who and that he doesn’t see that clear and someone was insisting that why wasn’t he…and he said 'Dzi wo fie asem'…That was the context in which 'Dzi wo fie asem' was mentioned and it was not to say that was Ghana’s (foreign) policy,” he explained.

KOD Exposes Nana Aba Anamoah

Is Nana Aba's hips real or fake
Among the numerous interesting moments on stage last Saturday November 17, 2012 inside the Conference Centre during the fourth edition of the 4Syte Music Video Awards, was when popular Radio Presenter Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) of Radio Gold attempted to expose TV3 News Anchor and host of ‘Divas Show’ Nana Aba Anamoah.

KOD who was on stage to present an award with dance-hall show stopper Samini, told the crowd that Nana Aba is known to be very smallish and cute but “has anybody noticed that all of a sudden Nana Aba has started developing a ‘Joselyn Dumas’ hips”, KOD asked the crowd insinuating that the witty Television host who was an MC on the night alongside Bolaray is wearing a hip pad or better still fake hips.

KOD even went ahead to chase Nana Aba around on the stage trying to touch her supposed fake hips to prove his allegation but somehow Nana Aba didn't allow him to touch her hips.

After the event Peacefmonline.com investigations reveals that Nana Aba is not too happy about what KOD did and has expressed her displeasure about his attempt to embarrass her in public in that manner.

KOD trying to shift Nana Aba's supposed hip pad on stage

Some have expressed their disappointed in KOD describing his behavior as unnecessary and inappropriate because he deviated from the main purpose why he was invited on stage and, rather wasted time trying to massage Nana Aba Anamoah’s hips.

Even though the TV3 newscaster may have played it down and brushed it off as though it didn’t matter depending on her relationship with KOD, it appears all her smiles on stage were all plastic because she didn't take it likely according to a close source.

Meanwhile Nana has not denied or confirmed KOD’s allegation but if indeed she was not wearing ‘fake’ hips why didn't she allow KOD to do what he wanted to do to clear all doubts ones and for all?

As it stands now, the question as to whether Nana Aba Anamoah's hips is real or fake still remains unanswered.

Count Me In – Hassan Ayariga Declares

Hassan Ayariga
The Presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention, Hassan Ayariga has reconsidered his decision not to participate in the second Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Presidential Debate.

In an interview with Citi News, he noted that his latest decision stems from the fact that he did not receive support from his opponents on his decision postpone the debate because of the state of mourning declared by President John Dramani Mahama.

A policy analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed earlier revealed that the party flagbearer's decision not to participate could lead to members of the party denouncing him en mass.

He said that there was a need to resist Mr Ayariga's decision and not allow it to stand because it could lead to a decline in the fortunes of the party.

Mr Ayariga however holds the opinion that "If all the candidates do not believe in my opinion and all of them ignore Aliu Mahama and want to partake, then I will go myself and then I will tell them in their eyes that listen, ‘we do not respect our leaders and we do not honour the nation’… I am only in this IEA to clear the doubts of the view of the people that I want to dodge the IEA."

“I will be there, if they don’t agree with me. But if they agree with me then we should all cancel it and postpone it.”

I Have Slept with 0ver 300 Women Unprotected – Wanlove Reveals

Wanlov

Controversial Ghanaian Pidgin English rapper Wanlov the Kubolor has granted yet another mind-boggling interview with television presenter Delay, during which he disclosed that he has four children with four different women.

Kubolor also said he currently has active sex mates numbering between 10 and 15 and that he has over the years had unprotected sex with some 300 different women.
“I know they would be more than 300 but not up to 500. I believe I have had sex with about 300 of them- both young and old.
One was as young as 17 but she does not look it. Sometimes they are as old as 49 or 50,” Wanlov noted.
Speaking on the rebranded ‘Delay Show’ on Viasat 1 last Friday, Wanlov said though he had heard all the education about HIV, he preferred to have unprotected sex because he did not enjoy using condoms.
“I have heard about HIV but I do not think about it just like I always walk bare footed and I do not think of the possibility of something piercing or cutting my feet.”

Interestingly, the musician said he had not performed any marital rites for any of the four women who had children for him.
He explained: “For me, I don’t believe in the concept of marriage.
I am not moved by external pressure where I have to hold a ceremony in the presence of some people to prove a bond between my wife and I.
I don’t see such things as important. I know the child we have together is more powerful than ring, marriage, customs and all that.
My focus is how to cater for my wife and child in a responsible way.
“My criteria for a woman for whole carry my baby is someone who has a good heart and loves people. I select the women who I want to give birth for me. None was by accident.”
Wanlov said three of his ‘wives’ were outside Ghana studying midwifery but one was in Ghana working as a fruit seller at Dzorwulu in Accra.
When asked by Delay whether he was living an exemplary life as a role model to several young persons, Wanlov expressed shock he was being considered as a role model.
“I am not a role model. I am a musician. I am a kubolor and I have not asked anyone to make me a role model. I just do what I like,” he noted.

Wanlov Vents Against 4syte Music Video Awards-He Thinks ‘Uncle Obama’ Video Is More Popular Than Kaalu Video

Obama Deborah Vanessa

Wanlov took to twitter earlier today to express his displeasure at EL’s Kaalu Video winning 4syte TV’s most Popular music video over Deborah Vanessa’s ‘Uncle Obama’.

According to Kubolor (senior brother of Deborah Vanessa), he believes Kaalu’s popularity is far below that of Uncle Obama and hence, Uncle Obama should have received the necessary recognition.

Personally, I have no problem with 4syte TV’s choice. Not because I do not like the Uncle Obama song or video but because it was more offensive than funny to many people although it got a lot of attention, most of it was more for notoriety than popularity.

The singers TimeLine got really busy as he received a lot of support on his stance from friends and fans who questioned the system employed by 4syte TV to select winners of the Music Video Awards.
