Radio Presenter Caught Pants Down

The act of making love has led to the disgrace and downfall of a number of personalities.

Last Saturday, a seasoned radio presenter of one of the radio stations in Accra was caught having sex with a young and attractive looking lady in his car, which was parked on the premises of a movie house in Accra.

The presenter, who is in his late forties and is very popular among ladies and celebrities in Ghana and Nigeria, is always dressed to kill.

BEATWAVES is reliably informed that the presenter, whose first name starts with an ‘S’, has been a regular customer of the movie house for months.

Upon reaching the movie house in the evening with his partner (not his legally married wife but one of his numerous girlfriends), he was told that all the rooms were occupied and that he should wait for an hour or so.

The presenter, realizing that he could not wait any longer, decided to have sex with the lady in his tinted car, with the engine running and the air condition on.

His action attracted the attention of two workers who saw the car bouncing and when they got closer, lo and behold the presenter was seen half naked and doing his own thing on top of the lady, who was also half naked.

For fear of being exposed and brought to public ridicule, the presenter has so far coughed up a few cedis to the workers who witnessed his ungodly act.

He is said to have arranged other mouth-watering gifts and benefits should the workers remain silent on the matter.

Ghana, Serbia Close Down Missions

Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni

Serbia has booted Samuel Valis-Akyianu, Ghana's Ambassador to Serbia, out of the country after a major diplomatic row.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, told Parliament on Wednesday the hitherto “cordial relations” between the two countries suffered serious bruises after Ghana recognised break-away Kosovo in the former Yugoslavia as an independent state.

Following the row, angry Serbian authorities sent Ambassador Valis-Akyianu packing in an attempt to mount pressure on Accra to reverse its decision to recognise neighbouring Kosovo, which declared independence in 2008, a decade after a bloody separatist war with Serbian forces that claimed 10,000 lives.

Beyond announcing the order to close Ghana's mission in Belgrade, the Minister did not say if Valis-Akyianu is to be reassigned.

“The long standing cordial relations between Ghana and Serbia, which dates back to the days of the former Yugoslavia can now be based more on political considerations, rather than on mutually beneficial economic interests,” the Minister told lawmakers in a statement he read on the floor of the 230-member legislature.

“Following the decision of the Ghana Government to recognise Kosovo, the Serbian authorities have asked Ghana's Ambassador in Belgrade to return home and consult with the Ghana Government to reverse the recognition,” the Minister said.

He added: “Moreover, the Serbian Government has requested its Honorary Consulate in Accra to be closed down.”

“The reaction of the Serbian Government to Ghana's recognition of Kosovo leaves us with no better choice than to order the complete closure of our mission in Belgrade,” Alhaji Mumuni said.

News of strain relations between the two countries is coming at the time Ghanaians continue to express outrage over the continued stay in office of Goran Stevanovic, the coach of the Black Stars, who is also a Serbian.

Local football fans have been calling for his head following what critics have called poor performances at the just-ended Africa Cup of Nation and subsequently, allegations of witchcraft he had since made against members of the Ghana squad.

It is, however, unclear how the bad blood currently flowing between the two countries will affect the Serbian coach, whose fate will be announced by the Ghana Football Association in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs Minister has announced Cabinet has approved the opening of two new missions to enhance diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana, Turkey and China.

Pastor Chris Okays Masturbation

Pastor Chris
Persons who hide to use their hands to stimulate their genitals for sexual pleasure in an act known as masturbation or solo-sex may now have to stop hiding and rather be proud of what they do because leader of the Christ Embassy Church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, says masturbation is a normal habit that is not a sin against God.

In what may become the wildest controversy within the contemporary Christian community, Pastor Chris insists that God is not worried at all about persons who masturbate because it has got nothing to do with Him (God).

Interestingly, Pastor Chris did not hide to release this ‘bombshell’ but allowed himself to be videoed and since the recording hit youtube, it has received some 83,335 plus hits within days. Pastor Chris made the masturbation justification when, during his ‘Pastor Chris Live Show’, a certain Kweku from Ghana called into the programme to ask how to overcome the habit of masturbation.
In response to Kweku’s question, Pastor Christ explained: “The reason you want to stop this is because of what you think it is.

If you were in the habit of playing football, you probably would not ask ‘how can I stop playing football? But because you think there is something wrong with this, that is where your problem is coming from. But no matter how wrong it is in your mind, get this straight: (masturbation) in itself, it is not a sin against God.

There are many Christians who think it is a sin against God and Satan uses this against them, oppressing their minds and making them feel ineffective and inefficient in the things of God. “But when you get to understand that it has nothing to do with God and that is all about you and your own body, then Satan loses his power to use it to accuse you. So if you don’t like it, stop it but God has got nothing to do with it. It is your own body, masturbation is about your body and God is not offended by it.

He is only offended by any habit that takes a hold of your mind and if this takes a hold of your mind and dominates you then, God is offended by the fact that it takes a hold of your mind,” Pastor Chris added. Masturbation has remained a rather sensitive topic with a divided opinion on whether it is good or bad. Generally, most Christians and Muslims consider masturbation to be a sacrilege and therefore frown on it.

Statistics say masturbation is mostly common among teenagers and though around 90% of the total male population and 65% of the total female population have tried masturbation, most people do not admit it. The Christ Embassy Church has several branches in almost all the continents of the world and has millions of members under the mentorship of Pastor Chris who has been in ministry for some 25years. He is married to the love his life, Anita and they have two daughters, Sharon and Charyn Oyakhilome.

Mills storms markets; buys kenkey to ascertain true price

President Mills asking of a price of Kenkey at the Nima Market

The President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills, today (Tuesday) paid an unannounced visit to the Nima, Maamobi and Mallam Atta markets all in Accra basically to ascertain the real prices of basic goods, especially that of a ball of kenkey that has become an issue.

The Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, had alleged on various radio stations that Ghanaians can no longer cope with the tough economic situation of the country to the extent that the ordinary person is finding it difficult to buy a ball of the commonest staple, kenkey.

Nana Akomea claimed a ball of kenkey is now selling at GhC 1 instead of GhC.50p, prompting the Presidency to hit town to prove the opposition propaganda machinery wrong.

President Mills in the course of his surprise interaction with the market women approached a kenkey seller at the Nima market and bought a ball for GhC .50p.

According to the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, the symbolic purchase is to put Nana Akomea and the opposition to shame as well as test the popularity of President Mills, who is bidding for a second term in this year’s elections.

“Some people, especially Nana Akomea in recent times have been playing kenkey politics and claiming that a ball of kenkey is now selling at GhC1, but here we are and the answer is a big no,”.

 Mr Anyidoho told Citi News.
“President Mills wanted to ascertain for himself the actual price of kenkey and the answer is a big no. So shame to Nana Akomea and his kenkey politics.”

He added: “The President decided to step out of the Castle today [Tuesday] and visited the markets and I’m sure we all got caught up in the frenzy.

“It is just to touch base and he got the mandate of the market women in 2008 and he assured them that if given the chance things will move in the right direction.”

“He is the first to admit that he hasn’t achieved everything. They have faith in him,” Mr. Anyidoho observed.

No Ghana Return For Kevin Prince Boateng - Agent

The agent of Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed that the AC Milan ace will not rescind his decision not to play for Ghana.

The 24-year-old quit international football last November claiming he wanted to remain healthy and avoid injuries.

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic reiterated the need to talk the former Germany youth international out of retirement to help boost the Black Stars chances of winning medals.

Boateng was exhilarating to watch when he featured for Ghana at the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals.

His absence was felt at the 2012 Nations Cup finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea after hitting a rich vein of form in the Italian Serie A and Uefa Champions League.

The player’s agent has cast doubts over the German-born’s return to the Black Stars.

“The player is focused on how to shake off the recent injuries that has been hampering his continued progress at Milan,” Boateng’s representative Mario Miele told lalaziosiamonoi.it

Boateng is currently in the AC Milan treatment room due to a thigh injury.

I’m A "Winnable Candidate"; I Don’t Need JJ Or Nana Konadu Claims Mills

Nana Konadu (left), Prez Mills (middle) and ex-prex Rawlings (right)

Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) is laying blame at the doorstep of the leader of the party; President J.E.A. Mills for perpetuating the cracks of division within the NDC which they claimed have deepened to almost unbearable proportions.

The group claims issues of corruption, obvious mismanagement and lack of accountability by the Mills government and some party executives are sinking the NDC ship.

FONKAR, which went on a transitory hibernation, noted that their fleeting silence on the media landscape created the false impression that FONKAR has been dissolved or silenced.

Announcing its decision to return to the media domain and “speak up” on issues of national concern, FONKAR, in a statement issued on Monday, descended heavily on President Mills for purportedly saying at a recent Peduase Lodge meeting that he is a “winnable candidate” without the founder of the party, ex-president Jerry John Rawlings at his side.

“In a meeting with some party executives and government appointees at the Peduase Lodge a few days ago, President Evans Atta Mills emphatically stated he wanted nothing to do with the party founder and Nana Konadu. Mills further added that he is a winnable candidate who neither needs J.J. Rawlings nor Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to win the 2012 general election. We have no doubt that this decision by the president is a product of ill-advise from the same sycophants, flatterers and ingrates who are bent on taking the NDC into opposition and destroy the Rawlings legacy for their own parochial interests,” the statement said.

Flashback: Some members of FONKAR with Saint Osei (middle)
PRESS STATEMENT - FONKAR

IMMEDIATE RELEASE - FEB 27TH 2012

Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings wishes to announce our return into the media domain with debates concerning our great party the NDC and Ghana in general after our brief withdrawal from media engagements in order to control what seemed to have been an abuse of the FONKAR platform by opportunistic groups and usurpers purporting to represent our interests.

Our decision to ‘speak up’ stems from our resolute commitment to the NDC’s principles of probity and accountability, integrity and social justice as well as our stance against corruption in governance.

Our brief silence on the media landscape has created the false impression that FONKAR has been dissolved or silenced.

Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings have not been dissolved.

We remain resolute in our stance to defend the truth, and to preserve and protect the core values of our founder J.J. Rawlings, on which the NDC party was founded.

It is no longer in doubt that the cracks of division within our great party, the NDC, have deepened to almost unbearable proportions. The leader who has ultimate responsibility to resolve these issues is himself perpetuating this division.

Actions taken by the president and leader of NDC since he came into office indicate his deliberate orchestration of the demise of the NDC. President Mills has shunned any event that celebrates the history of the National Democratic Congress; he has shunned our values of probity and accountability.

In a meeting with some party executives and government appointees at the Peduase Lodge a few days ago, President Evans Atta Mills emphatically stated he wanted nothing to do with the party founder and Nana Konadu. Mills further added that he is a winnable candidate who neither needs J.J. Rawlings nor Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings to win the 2012 general election.

We have no doubt that this decision by the president is a product of ill-advise from the same sycophants, flatterers and ingrates who are bent on taking the NDC into opposition and destroy the Rawlings legacy for their own parochial interests.

The current turn of events in the NDC where allegations of corruption, lack of accountability in governance have been leveled against government officials, leaves much to be desired and falls short of the ideals and values which form the bedrock of the party since its inception.

From the onset of the Mills administration, our founder J.J. Rawlings, and Nana Konadu, in consultation with the grassroots, have independently offered constructive criticism, and suggested solutions to restore the NDC’s reputation.

In response, the president has distanced himself from our founder J.J. Rawlings, while refusing to heed the advice of the very person who secured his 2008 general election victory.

With more and more allegations of corruption further tainting the Mills Administration, it brings into question Mills’ ability to be – what he himself terms - a “winnable” candidate for the NDC. As the issues of corruption and lack of probity and accountability within the Mills Government become self-evident, it vindicates Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings for contesting in the NDC’s presidential primaries in July 2011.

As NDC party disunity is apparent now more than ever, at the grassroots, it has become ever clearer that the Sunyani Congress was representative of a struggle between those who stand for the true values of the NDC and for its preservation as opposed to those who believe in bad governance, corruption and the ultimate destruction of the NDC.

These issues of corruption, obvious mismanagement and lack of accountability by the Mills government and some party executives are sinking the NDC ship, leaving the grassroots despondent and without the determination to campaign for their own party for the 2012 election.

We thank all our members and spokes persons for adhering to our earlier directive for restraint on the media discussions.

LONG LIVE FONKAR

LONG LIVE NANA KONADU AGYEMAN RAWLINGS

LONG LIVE THE TRUE NDC

1 killed, 4 wounded in school shooting in Ohio

CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — A gunman opened fire inside a high school cafeteria at the start of the school day Monday, killing one student and wounding four others, authorities said. A suspect — believed to be a student — was arrested a short distance away.

The suspect was taken into custody near his car a half-mile fromthe suburban Cleveland school, the FBI said. FBI agent Scott Wilson would not comment on a possible motive for the attack.
Panicked students screamed and ran through the halls when gunfire broke out around 7:30 a.m. at 1,100-student Chardon High School.

Heather Ziska, 17, said she was in the cafeteria when she and other students heard popping noises in the hall. She said she saw a boy she recognized as a fellow student come into the cafeteria and start shooting.

She said she and several others immediately ran outside, while other friends ran into a middle school and others locked themselves in a teachers' lounge.

"Everybody just started running," said 17-year-old Megan Hennessy, who was in class when she heard loud noises. "Everyone was running and screaming down the hallway."

Five students were taken to Cleveland-area hospitals, officials said. One student later died, Police Chief Timothy McKenna said. The suspect is a juvenile who was not immediately charged. His name was not released.

The condition of the wounded students was not disclosed.

Students at the high school and the middle school had already started their day when the shooting happened, but bus runs for elementary school children were stopped. All classes in the district were canceled.

Parents of high school students were told to go to an elementary school to pick up their children. Anxious parents could be seen escorting children away.

Chardon, a town of about 5,100 people, is about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

Confidence Boobs In Danger

Confidence Haugen, Chief Executive Officer of Aphrodisiac Night Club

The Gorgeous Confidence Haugen, Chief Executive Officer of Aphrodisiac Night Club, has started saving money to replace her breast implants which will expire in three years from now, sources she confided in have told News One.

Confidence, currently 37 years old, had the boob job when she was 30 and reports say she was cautioned to replace them every three years. She suffered a few complications after the fist implant and had to jet in and out of Ghana a couple of times for ‘specialist treatment’ before the situation was brought to normal but with a stern warning that she can get them replaced every ten years. “One other thing Confidence talks of very passionately is the desire to have a daughter. But she says if she does not get a baby girl before she goes for the boobs thing again, then she would rather remain a mother of one,” the source disclosed.

Though breast implants go a long way in boosting one’s self esteem and can transform sagging breast into well rounded and firms ones, with erect nipples, they come with all sorts of complications if not properly fixed by a specialist.

The cost of breast augmentation varies. Some quack surgeons charge between $3000 and $15000 whilst specialist surgeons charge between $20,000 to $45,000 or even more. Normally, the cost depends on the caliber of the surgeon, the type of anesthesia used and where the surgery takes place. Sometimes, the cost of boob implants by a specialist may cost as much as $50,000 aside travelling and accommodation expenses. The treatment may however cost more if the implants are not replaced on time and complications set in. Out of an apparent fear of further complications, Confidence is said to be preparing to meet her deadline and that explains why she is saving towards the operation.

Confidence at the big brother house
At age 37 and blessed with a 7-year-old son, Troy, Confidence still possesses the looks of someone far younger than her age. Her boobs though artificial, cannot be avoided by the eyes of any right thinking male adult.

They are well rounded, luscious and seem firm. Confidence has always loved fashion, glitz and glamour. She is a former Miss Volta and nearly became Miss Ghana in 1999. Her high sense of fashion, style and class is perhaps the first thing any visitor to ther Aphrodisiac Nigh Club will notice. She has curvaceous waitresses who even seem more appealing when they stand on high heels. The clubs interior lightening and furniture have over the years remained the best in town.

Armed Robber's Model Lover Arrested

Felivian

A model, Felivian Ayariga was on Saturday arrested in connection with her boyfriend, Rabiu, Accra’s most wanted armed robber, who was killed in a shoot-out at Ogbojo, near Madina in Accra on Friday.

The 26-year-old model, also known as Dion, is seen on huge billboard around the country advertising for a popular fabric maker. She was detained at the female cells of the Ministries Police Station after her arrest by the Accra Regional Police Command to help them in their investigations on her deceased lover’s escapades. Two ladies aged about 18 years, who were also allegedly dating the notorious armed robber, were also arrested and granted bail after interrogations. While one of the girls was in JHS 1, the other was s second year student of one of the Senior High Schools in Accra.

Felivian’s arrest followed the death of her boyfriend in a bid to recover most of the stolen items from their robbery expeditions, of which the police believed she was a beneficiary. This was not the first time Felivian had been arrested. Three weeks ago, she was picked up and detained at Anyaa but failed to cooperate with the police under the guise of being a former girlfriend of Rabiu.

However, intelligence reports gathered showed that she was still with Rabiu but allegedly lied to free herself from the claws of the law. Felivian allegedly hopped from one hotel to the other with her most wanted boyfriend, damning the consequences although Rabiu was on the wanted list of the police.

He was linked to the recent robbery at UBA bank in Tema where a policeman was killed. At the Accra Regional Police headquarters, she almost broke down in tears when she saw the bullet ridded body of her man as her voice cracked when she told police “yes! That is Rabiu.” Rabiu was said to have come out of the Nsawam Medium Prisons somewhere in 2010 after serving a jail tem and soon went back into robbery. The deceased robbers had identified with several robberies within Accra and the Tema Regions. Some of the robberies were the Louis Gas robbery in which the managing director of the Company, Louis Kofi Badu was killed in 2010, Ecobank robbery in August 2011 at the Accra Mall branch near Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout, Atis (dealers in building materials) robbery in January and the Tema bank robbery in which a cop was killed, also in January 2012. Rabiu, a Togolese, and his Nigerian accomplice Simon Peter, died in a fierce shootout at Ogbojo where they tried, together with a third robber, Raman (who escaped) to attack a Nigerian national over missing weapon.

The two, after the Tema UBA robbery in which Sam Peter allegedly shot and killed a policeman attached to the Community 4 police station, hid their weapon in the flower bed of a house at Ogbojo. When they returned later in the hope of recovering their weapon, it was nowhere to be found. The two having heard that there was a Nigerian living adjacent to where they had hidden the weapon, suspected he might have taken their weapon and so hatched the attack. Unfortunately for them, the police had long dug out the weapon. The police also heard about the intended attack and therefore laid ambush in the area. On Friday 24, 2012, Rabiu and two accomplices, Simon Peter and Raman arrived on two motorbikes and attacked the Nigerian, but the police closed in on them. In a fierce encounter, the police killed Rabiu and Sam while Raman escaped with gunshot wounds.

The Regional Police Commander COP Rose Bio Atinga and her Deputy, ACP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, sounded a stern warning to armed robbers at a press conference on Saturday. “Crime does not pay. It is either you die or you go to prison,” she told the miscreants. The regional command also expressed gratitude for keeping faith with the people of Ghana and the Police Service.

“We wish to thank our informants for their loyalty to the people of Ghana and the police service,” COP Rose Atinga said.
ACP Yohuno lauded the efforts of the Inspector-General of Police Paul Tawiah Quaye for instituting the IGPs reward system which adequately rewarded informants in a bid to encourage them to keep volunteering credible information to the police.

How To Win A Woman’s Love

Love can be fickle – but it doesn’t have to be. The keys to getting a lady to fall head over heels for you isn’t all that difficult to understand – the emotions of a woman are complicated, however, with the right outlook, they’re easy enough to understand and influence. Employ these effective strategies to get the girl you’re after to fall in love with you.

1. Slow And Steady Wins The Race
It’s important that you approach the girl you’re interested in slowly, especially if she doesn’t know you or doesn’t know you well. A very strong come on in the beginning isn’t going to work well for you – in fact, it’s very likely to backfire. What you don’t want to do is come off as a creep, because then you could very well be scaring her off for good!

Understand that for a really strong connection to build, it has to start somewhere. It takes time for attraction to build, and if you ever plan on wanting to be in a relationship with this person, you want to make sure your taking the time to build a strong foundation in the beginning. Don’t be afraid to take it slow and let the attraction build naturally. Make sure you get to know her well, and make sure she at least knows that you exist!

2. If You’re Inexperienced With Women
If you’re shy and inexperienced talking to women, take that first initial step and go out there and start meeting women! Even if they aren’t the “one” that you want to be dating, getting practice talking to women and being comfortable around them will help you to be more smooth and confident when you’re around the lady you really, really like.

3. Don’t Lose Sight Of Your Own Passions, Goals And Interests
A lot of times what will happen when a guy becomes interested in a girl is he will begin to become obsessed with her. Thoughts of her will end up taking over his mind, and everything he does will somehow be related to her, what she’s doing or where she is. If you want to have any shot with the girl you’re pining over, you have to forget that completely!

Make sure you still have your own goals and passions. Don’t lose yourself when trying to get a girl! That almost never, ever works. She’s not going to be attracted to you if you’re completely obsessed with her. Having your own passions and goals in life (and participating in them actively) is actually the best thing you can do to make her notice you. Concentrate on living your life to the fullest and taking part in things that make you happy. If you’re happy all the time, she’s going to start taking an interest in you. If you’re fun to be around, you’ll really start to attract women!

4. Get To Know Each Other
In the beginning stages, it’s important for you and the lady you’re interested in to start getting to know each other. You may think you know all about her and you’re madly in love with her, but the truth is, until you’ve really spent some time with someone and have gotten to know them well, it’s really hard to tell if those feelings are genuine. Our brains are excellent at filling in the gaps when it comes to having a crush on someone, so we walk away thinking they’re the love of our lives when in reality, we don’t know them very well at all.

Search for things you and the girl you like have in common. Find out if she even likes you! You cannot force a woman to love you – if you don’t have anything in common or if she doesn’t even really like you “that way,” you can’t force a relationship to come out of it. However, you can “win” a lady’s love if the spark is already there by playing your cards right!

5. Invest In Yourself
Take some time to make yourself more attractive to women overall. You’re not going to get anyone if you look and feel like a bum! Exercise, eat healthy and nutritious meals and take part in activities that give you confidence and self-worth. Being more confident in general about yourself will automatically make you more attractive to women (including the girl you like). If you don’t love yourself and feel good about yourself first, no one else will either! Also, you ensure that by becoming more attractive in general, you’re leaving the door open for other women – who may be better for you.

6. The Less You Need Her, The More She Will Like You
You don’t want to be that needy, clingy guy that needs to be around her, be talking to her or be thinking about her to be happy. If you make her your sole source of happiness, she will run for the hills as fast as she can! No girl wants to be the “be all and end all” for a guy. So make a point to “need” her less. This goes back to not losing yourself for a girl and making sure that you still have activities and things that you’re passionate about and enjoy doing. Make time for your guy friends – go out to the sports bar and watch the game with your buddies, or do something else that doesn’t involve her. This will make you way more attractive to her – and it will give her room to chase you a little bit!

7. Respect That She Can Decide Who She Loves On Her Own
Give her some space. Let her chase you a little – if she feels smothered, she’s going to kick you to the curb in short order. If you’ve done everything you possibly can to win her love and she still doesn’t love you, you’re going to have to recognize when it’s time to move on. If you keep pushing forward when she’s pulling back, you’re going to make yourself out to seem like a stalker! (And you can forget a possible relationship with one of her hot friends if you seem like a weirdo who won’t let go).

She can decide who she wants to love and who she doesn’t all by herself – you cannot force a girl to love you! If this happens to you, concede defeat gracefully and with dignity. Move on, continue improving yourself and doing things that make you happy, and the right one will come along soon enough.

Bukom Banku knocked down but retains WBO Africa heavyweight title

Bukom Banku knocked down but retains WBO Africa heavyweight title

Brimah Kamoko better known as Bukom Banku successfully defended his WBO Africa Lightweight title after his Ugandan opponent refused to continue the bout in the third round in Accra in the wee hours of Sunday.

Ugandan boxer, Hamza Wandera in protest to a supposed foul by Bukom Banku turned his back twice and refused to continue fighting, forcing referee Roger Barnor to end the bout.

Wandera knocked Bukom Banku down, for the first time in his career in round one but failed to capatalise on his advantage.

By this win, Bukom Banku has improved his record to 23 wins and is getting closer to a shot at the world title.

He admitted in an interview with Joy Sports that the bout was a tough one. He said his opponent is a good boxer and although he knocked him down in the first round, he would have stopped him in either the fourth or fifth round.

Meanwhile, Wandera who explained his decision to Joy Sports after the bout said he “will come for a rematch anytime.”

He explained that he took to the decision to quit the fight to “protect my life. Kamoko was going to hack me more in the ring without referee warning him that is why I had to leave the fight. Next time if they call for an international fight it [should] not be a ‘Kamoko man’ [referee] … [and] I promise to knock him out.”

In other bouts, Joshua Okine defeated Argentina’s Amilcar Funes – a result many saw as controversial, while Samuel Amoako struggled to earn a win against Namibia’s Martin Hikali to claim the WBO Africa lightweight title.

Eben Lamptey defeated Eduardo Flores of Equador to win the WBO Africa heavyweight title.

7 Tips To Finding The Right Guy

Finding the Right Guy often seems impossible. It seems like all the girls these days are trying to find the right man. Good men seem to be few and far between, but let me assure you they ARE out there. I married one myself! And I know lots of girls who have found genuine, sincere men who love them and treat them well.

And let me assure you, they are out there for you too! It may be a long time coming, but sometimes the best things take time. Think of a baby. It takes nine months to form! Or a savings account. It takes a while to accumulate those pennies, but who doesn’t love a fat wad of cash?

But even though there are plenty of men out there, they’re not all the RIGHT one for you. So I’ve made a list with 7 tips to finding the right guy. If you’ve had lousy luck lately, there could be a few things you need to tweak! Keep on reading for 7 tips to finding the right guy!

1. Guys DO Want Relationships
I think one mistake girls make when they go looking for guys is thinking that men don’t want a real relationship. So they end up settling for flings or one night stands, thinking that’s all they will ever be able to get. I’m here to disprove that theory! Guys DO want relationships, and as long as you’re the type of girl who flits around, they will never respect you enough to settle down. So stop thinking that men don’t want to be with you for longer than one night, and start holding out for somebody great! That’s how you find the right guy.

2. Mr. Wrong Might Know Mr. Right
One tip to finding the right guy is to keep his number. Don’t toss it out as soon as it’s “over.” One thing many girls overlook is that just because one guy doesn’t work out for you, that doesn’t mean his friends wouldn’t! Mr. Wrong might be friends with Mr. Right! So keep in touch with your guy friends and hang out periodically to see if they have any hot men-friends you’d like to get to know a little better!

3. Don’t Try so Hard
If you want a tip to finding the right guy, here it is: Stop trying so hard to make it happen. Desperation often results in settling for whatever comes your way, and that’s never good. It will happen when it’s time and not before then. You don’t need to throw yourself on every guy you see without a ring on his hand in order to find the right guy. Just be patient and wait. Good things DO come to those who wait, you’ll see!

4. There’s Nothing Wrong with Having Standards
I always tell my single friends that there is no need to settle. It’s a good idea to have a “list” of “criteria” you would like a guy to meet. You don’t need to just be content to have a man who has no job, no interest in ever having a job or trade of any kind and likes to play XBox all day and party all night. But at the same time, keep your “list” and “criteria” loose. If you have such high standards that no guy will ever be able to meet them, you may end up alone forever! Remember that guys are human just like you and give them some space to live. Also, don’t pass by a perfectly nice guy with your nose in the air just because you think you deserve a prince or a king.

5. There Are Plenty of Fish in the Sea
One tip to finding the right guy is to remember there are plenty of fish in the sea. Yes, broken hearts take time to mend and relationships that end on a bad note can hurt for a good while. But there ARE other men out there, men who will treat you right and love you the most. Don’t write off all men in the world as jerks-there are some pretty cool dudes out there just waiting to be discovered!

6. Be the Kind Of Girl a Guy Would Want
If you’re really serious about finding the right man, here’s a big tip to keep in mind: You need to be the kind of girl a guy would WANT to have. That doesn’t mean you need to be someone you’re not. But if you constantly have a bad attitude, a sour expression or critical words, no guy is going to want to be around that. And most guys who look for lasting relationships aren’t going to want a girl who does nothing but party all the time and liver her life in less-than-ladylike clothing. Try to be the type of girl a guy would want as his long-term girlfriend if you’re serious!

7. Look in the Right Places
One big mistake women make when it comes to finding the right guy is that they look in all the wrong places. Bars, clubs, online dating website and your local AAA group meeting are not ideal places to find serious guys. Now, I don’t mean to put down anyone who takes part in these places or belittle anyone who is in a relationship with a guy they met in one of these places! I’m just saying, on a general basis, guys who are serious or looking for a girlfriend/wife will not be hanging around these places.

I know that finding the right guy takes time and can sometimes be discouraging or disheartening when you don’t get results right away. But let me encourage you to stay optimistic and never settle for less than what you deserve! You will be so happy you did when you do finally find the right man. I hope that my tips on finding the right guy have been helpful. Do you have any tips to share about finding the right guy? Please comment below, and thank you for reading!

Hyper-sexuality is dangerous - Dr Kwasi Kumah warns

Dr Andre Kwasi Kumah of the Eden Family Clinic has described hyper-sexuality as dangerous and called for a total discouraged in society.

He said the behaviour associated with high urge for sex has the tendency to destroy marriages, families and jobs if urgent precautions are not taken to curb it.

He said it becomes more dangerous when the situation begins to affect a victim’s marriage, family or work and could even lead him or her to contracting STDs.

Some theories and scientific suggestions have it that the brain contains chemicals that affect the mood of every person, he noted, explaining that when the hormones in a person increase, it could lead to this condition. In addition, he said other studies suggest connections in the neutron of the brain that are improperly located can also tilt people to that angle.

Speaking on the hyper-sexuality in connection with high libido, Dr. Andre Kumah said though the two have high demand for sex, people who are sexually addicted have multiple sexual partners while people with high libido may not necessarily have multiple partners.

Though sex addiction is prone to both men and women, in Africa, men are the most affected with the high sex drive.

When the male hormones (which are hereditary) become high in the male system, it increase their libido leading them into addiction, he noted.

He said moodiness in people may also contribute to exhibition of the condition, adding, alcohol and drug addicts are likely to be addicted to sex not forgetting rape victims among others.

He however advised that people with such condition should contact a mental health specialist for attention and advice.

Nelson Mandela Admitted To Hospital

Former South African president Nelson Mandela has been admitted to hospital needing "specialist medical attention".
The 93-year-old ex-leader was taken to the hospital due to a "long-standing abdominal complaint," which "doctors feel... needs proper specialist medical attention," a statement released by President Jacob Zuma said.
"We wish him a speedy recovery and assure him of the love and good wishes of all South Africans and people throughout the world," it said.

"We request that all respect the privacy of Madiba and that of his family during this period."
The South African government issued a statement saying the hospital visit was planned and would not involve an operation.
ANC spokesman Keith Khosa said: "There's no need for panic. It was not an emergency admission. It was planned."
His oldest granddaughter said she was not worried about the situation as Mr Mandela seemed "in perfect health" earlier this week.

"I don't see it as a big thing. He's in perfect health. When I saw him on Wednesday, he was in good spirits, in perfect health... the epitome of health really for a man of his age," Ndileka Mandela said.
"I'm not worried. Granddad rebounded from his illness last year. I don't see any reason why this should be any different."
Mr Mandela, or Madiba as he is affectionately known, has appeared increasingly frail in recent years, and sparked national fears after he was in hospital early last year for an acute respiratory infection.
Labour MP and anti-apartheid campaigner Peter Hain tweeted: "Solidarity with Nelson Mandela just admitted to hospital, we are all with you."
Despite his ill-health, Mr Mandela asked to meet American First Lady Michelle Obama during her trip to Africa last year.
Mr Mandela won the world's respect and admiration for his fight against prejudice and discrimination in South Africa.
He spent 27 years in prison - 18 of those at the infamous Robben Island facility - before his eventual release in 1990.

The anti-apartheid icon won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, a year before he was elected South Africa's first black president.
He spent one term in that post, stepping down in 1999 and has since become one of the world's most respected international statesmen.

Goran Reveals The Use Of “Juju” In Ghana Camp

Under fire Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has revealed that some Black Stars players resorted to the use of “black power” to outdo each other during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana came fourth at the 28th edition of the continental showpiece and a section of the local media cites internal wrangling and player indiscipline as some of the major issues for the four-time Africa champions’ disappointing performance.

The Ghana FA at a press briefing on Wednesday said they will take a decision on the coach within the next two weeks.

Below is a copy of the Serbian’s technical report on Ghana’s performance at the 2012 Afcon:

INJURIES AND THE FINAL 23 SQUAD
After five training sessions in South Africa the technical team dropped Emmanuel Baffour and Derek Asamoah to bring the squad to 23.

John Mensah and Asamoah Gyan were nursing muscle injuries so the management brought in a physiotherapist ( Mariana) from Serbia to help treat the muscle problems in the team.

Fortunately both players recovered miraculously within two days to join our training sessions.

Agyemang Badu also had an injury before camping in Rustenburg but recovered within some few days in camp.

TECHNICAL MEETING
On the day of every match we showed the players clips of the opposing team.

We analysed the opponent set pieces, defensive and attacking tactics and how we can penetrate their defence. All players were made aware of their roles and those who should take our set pieces.

Players were always psyched up and always made aware about the importance of this tournament to themselves and Ghanaians.

I also showed them films which were very motivational and inspiring.

ASSESSMENT OF TOURNAMENT
We played our first match against Botswana at Franceville which ended 1 - 0 in our favour.

Every first game of a tournament is always difficult and the Botswana team tactically sat back and relied on counter attacks.

I realised that most players' performance was not as expected due to lack of games in their various clubs.

John Mensah scored the only goal for Ghana.

Our second game was also played at Franceville with Mali and the match ended 2 - 0 in favour of Ghana.

The goals were scored by Asamoah Gyan and Andre Ayew. I was really satisfied with our performance technically and tactically.

The third group match was played against Guinea at Franceville and the final score ended 1-1.

Guinea was my best team in the tournament and I was not surprised when they gave us a really good game.

John Mensah scored our goal from a corner kick

We qualified to the quarter final stage after being on top of our group.

The match was played at Franceville with Tunisia and it ended 2 -1 in favour of Ghana.

The goal scorers for Ghana were Agyemang Badu and Andre Ayew.

The match was very competitive but I was satisfied with our game and the players fighting spirit.

We reached the semi finals of the competition playing against Zambia. We played our best game in the tournament outplaying the Zambians technically and tactically.

We created many scoring opportunities but unfortunately could not utilise our chances. The Zambians created two chances and were fortunate to get a goal. We lost 1-0 but there was vast improvement in our game compared to the group stage matches.

After the loss every individual in camp was devastated and spirit in camp was zero. I held a meeting with the playing body the following day to encourage and to psyche them for our next game with Mali.

Unfortunately, the meeting turned out to be accusations and blames amongst the players which needs to be addressed by the FA management and the technical team for a better future.

The third place match against Mali was played at Equatorial Guinea. After missing our target which is the gold, the willingness to fight was lost in the players and we lost 2 - 0 to Mali.

CONCLUSION
After losing to Zambia, there arose so many accusations amongst the players during my meeting with them. I have learnt great lessons from African football and also about Ghanaian players' behaviour on and off the field.

We all need to help in changing some players' mentality about using black power to destroy themselves and also make sure we install discipline and respect for each other.

I am very grateful to the Ministry of Sports, Ghana football Association Management, and the Black Stars Management Committee for their assistance and support during the qualifying stages, preparations and the competition in Gabon / Equatorial Guinea.

I also thank the technical team and Coach Oti Akenten who assisted in monitoring other teams for us. My gratefulness and thanks goes to my Gallant players who stayed in camp for almost seven weeks and worked tirelessly to reach quarter finals and finally to all Ghanaians who prayed and also supported us throughout the competition.

Goran Stevanovic Wants Kevin Prince Boateng Return

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has opened the door to the return of midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng to the Black Stars.

The Serbian trainer had fallen out with the AC Milan player after Ghana’s impressive campaign at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The 23-year-old subsequently announced his decision to quit international football after sending an official notification to the Ghana FA.

The ex Partizan Belgrade coach however says he is prepared to welcome Boateng back to the side following Ghana’s disappointing campaign at the 2012 Nations Cup.

“You know very well Kevin (Boateng) sent a letter to the GFA to explain why he wants to miss sometime from national team,” Stevanovic said.

“And I agree with you, with the President (Nyantakyi), myself and everyone here that we need to do everything possible to make Kevin-Prince Boateng come back to the national team.”

Police Avert Possible Clash...As NPP & NDC Supporters Swarm Radio Station

Bobie Ansah, Host of Ekosii sen on Asempa FM

The timely arrival of hordes of personnel from the Ghana Police Service with their crowd control equipment in tow, averted what could have easily left a sour taste in the mouths of well-meaning and peaceful Ghanaians, when hundreds of irate supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) unhappy with how a member of the party’s communications team was being ‘heckled’ on-air, laid siege at the premises of an Accra-based commercial radio station.

The angry supporters swarmed Asempa FM, now located on the premises of JoyFM, because they felt the host of Ekosii sen, a political discussion programme aired on the station, Bobie Ansah, was jaundiced towards them and was trying to emasculate Hopeson Adoye who speaks for the NPP.

Kasapahene.blogspot.com is reliably informed that panelists were discussing fallouts from the NPP’s Greater Accra Rally and the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo’s remark that he had no problem at all with pitting his character against that of President Mills.

In a rather self-assured manner, the NPP flagbearer, addressing a teeming crowd of party supporters and sympathizers at a rally held on Saturday at Mantse Agbonaa in James Town said, he was ready to engage President Mills in a “contest of character” if that was what the NDC craved for.

Narrating what led to the whole incident, Peter Boamah Otukonor, a member of the NDC’s Communication Team, in an interview during Peace FM News@6pm, said in his submission, he placed the character of the NPP Presidential candidate under the microscope urging him (Nana Addo) to extricate himself from allegations of drug use and also his alleged association with people who are on record to have been convicted of drug-trafficking.

His assertion comes after the Federal Police Department of Brazil reported that a Ghanaian drug convict, Raymond Kwame Amankwah, who is serving a 14-year prison term in Brazil, was at the time of his arrest at the Pinto Martins Airport in Fortaleza on December 1, 2007, holding a diplomatic passport issued by the Republic of Ghana.

According to him, he was emphatic that the diplomatic passport Raymond Amankwah held, was issued at the time Nana Akufo-Addo was the Foreign Affairs Minister, as such the NPP leader cannot absolve himself from blame. He stressed that Ghana cannot afford to have a leader who has allegations of being a drug addict hanging around his neck like an albatross since the lives of the many Ghanaian youth cannot be safe under his watch if he ever became president.

He recounted that he also questioned why Nana Addo as Attorney General failed to prosecute the three women said to be NPP members who were arrested in 2002 at the Kotoka International Airport for possessing narcotic substances.

Still on the character of the NPP Flagbearer, Otukonor said of a man desiring to be president, it was indiscrete and morally unacceptable for a leader of the largest opposition party to fondle a married woman à la GBC Make-up artist and Daily Post exposé.

He further stated that for someone whom the International Community had described as “having morality problems”, (as per the wikileaks reports), it is worrisome that the NPP chose to elect someone who constantly uses sexual imagery publicly, referring to the infamous ‘bottoms’ comment the NPP presidential candidate made in his tribute to the late Madam Theresa Tagoe.

He said he was therefore surprised that his submission could get the NPP panelist so worked up.

Peacefmonline.com was fortunate enough to get through to the man at the centre of the whole brouhaha, Hopeson Adoye for his version of events. Hopeson revealed that he expressed happiness that the contest was now about the character of the personalities seeking to lead the nation.

According to him, in his submission, he stressed that if the NDC was really concerned about leaders who are into hard drugs and how that might negatively affect the youth, they should have expressed worry when a former leader, alleged to be high on drugs, climbed on top of a tree and refused to come despite several entreaties.

The tensed scene at the premises of Asempa FM

Swatting away accusations that the NPP flagbearer was into drugs, Hopeson Adoye said he pointed out that people who abused illegal substances show visible signs and symptoms of being under the influence of hard drugs and alluded to President Mills’ blackened hands saying though he (Mills) openly told Ghanaians that it was a reaction to certain medication he was using, he never disclose what the medication was.

Like a train careering down a steep slope, the NPP activist said he also claimed that it is an undeniable fact that there are some persons at the seat of government, the Osu, Castle, who have to be induced by drugs before they can get up on their feet and go about their normal duties.

At this, he said, the host of the show drew his attention to the fact that it was Nana Addo who was the subject of discussion and questioned why the focus on President Mills, to which Hopeson Adoye retorted that the 'question was out of order'.

According to him, Bobie Ansah shot back saying, “if you cannot do sensible debate then walk out,” but he (Adoye) stood his grounds and refused to leave the studios. As tempers flared, the host promptly cut off his (Adoye’s) microphone, abruptly halted the show to take a commercial break and allegedly requested that the security personnel kick out the NPP activist.

As the situation was taking a turn for the worse, hordes of NPP supporters, as if on cue, circled the premises of the radio station ostensibly to cause havoc but were prevented from entering into the studio by workers of the station and a special squad from Westec Security.

Meanwhile, supporters of the ruling NDC also besieged the station in their numbers perhaps to offer some form of protection to their members in the studio setting the stage for what could easily have been a free-for-all fight.

But the timely arrival of personnel from the Ghana police service with their crowd control equipment in tow, calmed matters.

Kweku Bonsam Suffering From Broken Heart

Gertrude
Ghana’s sensational fetish priest, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, is suffering a broken heart over misunderstandings with the love of his life, Gertrude, a pretty-faced London-based Ghanaian studying at the University of Greenwich.

News-One sources said Bonsam and Gertrude had dated for well over a year now and the lady had given him the option of either taking her to the altar this year or forever hold his peace.

Reports said Bonsam and Gertrude were expected to exchange marriage vows by October last year but the fetish priest postponed the marriage ceremony to an indefinite date, citing spiritual reasons.
During his recent trip to Amsterdam, he was said to have dashed to Londom to see the lady and again found an excuse why he could not sign his marriage contract with her right there in London.

Gertrude is reported to have become impatient and consulted a few elders to implore Bonsam to marry hr if he really loved her, as the postponement was making her nervous. Gertrude and Bonsam are reported to be head-over-heels in love and can hardly spend a day without talking on phone, though they stay millions of miles apart.

Bonsam’s inability to settle on the exact time of their marriage is what has created a misunderstanding in their otherwise perfect love life. Gertrude, aka Trudie, News-One gathered, is an Ashanti who was born in Ghana but grew up in London and has lived there her entire life.

Sometime last year, Gertrude was at Bonsam’s Sarpeiman shrine in Accra and News-One succeeded in getting a few comments from her concerning her relationship with the fetish priest.
“Well it is a matter of love and understanding. I am very impressed at what he is doing and since we understand each other and have fallen in love, getting married should not be a problem.
“That is why I came down to see things for myself and I am proud to tell you that yes I shall get married to Kwaku Bonsam soon,” she told News-One in a flawless London accent.

She sounded very learned, intelligent, humble and had the type of physical beauty not common among the wives of fetish priests.
Bonsam, on his part, spoke in Twi: “Marriage is a good thing and every man that finds a good wife has found a good thing. I have suggested we do both the traditional marriage as well as the church (ordinance) one”

Not too long ago, Nana Kwaku Bonsam divorced his youngest and second wife. The fetish priest and the woman, whose name as simply given as Maame, were said to have two children but their marriage of many years hit he rocks. The lady had to pack bag and baggage and leave her matrimonial home to her father’s house.

Kweku Bonsam & Gertrude

Though Bonsam confirmed the divorce, he declined giving details about the cause of the break-up, aside saying that he was a polygamist and that God would bless him with another wife in a short time. When asked which God he was referring to, the fetish priest said he was referring to the Supreme Being who created mankind.

News-One however learnt that the cause of the split started three years ago when Maame challenged Bonsam in public that there was nothing he could do to her even if she disrespected him.
The fetish priest was said to have taken the challenge personal and cursed his wife, causing her to go naked in public. Maame was said to have raised her skirts and walked around for about 10 minutes or so before coming back to her senses.

Bonsam and the wife were said to have had disagreements since then until she had another disagreement with Bonsam’s mother. The disagreement with her mother-in-law, coupled with others, led to the final separation.

I Don't Do Drugs...I Only Smoke Cigarettes - Efya

Efya

After the death of sensational musician and actress Whitney Houston linked to what is alleged to be her long battle with drugs, there have been debates on drug use by showbiz personalities especially in Ghana.

One personality who has fallen victim to allegations of drug use is songstress Efya. In the midst of her abundant talent, Efya has been under the radar for speculations that she is into hard drugs and stands the risk of killing her career if nothing is done.

The songstress, born Jane Awindor, refuted the allegations in an interview with Hitz Entertainment News Monday. “I don’t use narcotics before my performance, after my performance, through my performance and during the day. I don’t do drugs, me, my name is E-F-Y-A and I do not do drugs,” she stressed.

“I don’t know why people say I do drugs, nobody out there who has said that I do drugs has ever seen me do it. I can swear down and tell you that because I don’t do drugs. I smoke cigarettes, I do that you see me doing it when I’m out it’s my thing but nobody can judge me on that but the thing is I don’t do drugs,” Efya lamented.

The Little Things singer however wondered why people easily link her to drugs, cautioning accusers not to judge her by her looks. “…I don’t understand why people assume that I do it. What do I do that shows that I do drugs? People say because I am skinny but if you ask anybody who’s known me since I was small, I am a very smallish person …”

Allegations of her drug use are not new to her. According to Efya, it started from her days in the University - she completed in 2010: “I have heard this; I have heard it over and over since the University but the thing is nobody has ever come out with any kind of solid evidence that I do drugs.”

She warned persons peddling such rumours to desist from the practice, assuring them that they will never get any evidence to that effect. “They are never going catch me doing it because I don’t do it,” she stressed.

Although the drugs tag bothers her, she said she is determined to press on with her career and advised critics to let her be. Efya promised that she is concentrating on her music and will continue to do good music.

“You get to this level and people want to say anything they want to say about you but what you do is you don’t let it bring you down you just keep going higher and that’s what I keep saying … I am not going to let you down, I am not going to ever do drugs and I am going to be the biggest thing that has ever happened to Ghana,” she assured her fans.

O.B. Amoah arrested over Woyomegate

 O. B. Amoah

Former Deputy Education and Sports Minister O. B. Amoah has been arrested by the police for questioning in connection with the controversial GH¢51 million judgment debt award to businessman Alfred Woyome.

Mr. Amoah was picked up on Sunday night at his Parakou Estates residence, near Dome, and was whisked away to the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters.

A family friend of the Amoahs, Lawyer Godfred Dame, confirmed the arrest of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Aburi-Nsawam to Citi News.

Speaking to Citi Fm’s Richard Sky just before 9pm GMT, the lawyer said the MP was picked up by heavily “armed police men” in the presence of his wife.

Mr Dame broke the news on Citi FM shortly after the emotionally “disturbed” wife of the Deputy Minority spokesperson on Youth and Sports called him on phone to break news of her husband's arrest to him.

He quoted the Aburi-Nsawam MP's wife as having told him that the police cited the Woyome saga as basis for Hon. Amoah's arrest.

Mr Dame condemned the Sunday night arrest, wondering why the state will go after the legislator instead of the likes of former Attorney General, Betty Mould -Iddrisu and Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, under whose watch Mr. Woyome was paid the Ghc51 million judgment debt.

Hon. Amoah is on record to have authorised Waterville to move to the Accra Sports Stadium to begin construction works after it emerged that the Kufuor government had decided to give the Dutch company the contact to renovate the edifice ahead of the CAN 2008 tournament.

Biometric Scanners Does Not Cause Erectile Dysfunction

Dr. Afari Gyan (Chairman Of  Electoral Commission)

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Electoral Commission (EC) have debunked rumours that scanners for the biometric voters registration can cause cancer or erectile dysfunction.

According to the two bodies, the scanners, which will be used for biometric registration, would be similar to the ones used at the various international airports, such as the Kotoka International Airport, the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York and the Schipol Airport in Amsterdam.

They have also been used by institutions such as the National Identification Authority and the Passport Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collect electronic fingerprints of Ghanaians acquiring national identity or biometric passports without posing any health hazards to the applicants.

The assurances came against the background of rumours that the scanners could cause cancer and erectile dysfunction.
Dismissing the rumours, the Deputy Chairperson of the NCCE, Madam Augustina Akumanyi, said the biometric voters registration exercise carried no health implications.

According to her, there were rumours circulating that one would contract cancer, particularly women, while the men could experience erectile dysfunctional and called on Ghanaians to discard such information and come out in their numbers to register when the exercise began in March 2012.

Madam Akumanyi was addressing a durbar in honour of the Leader of Delegation of the European Union in Ghana, Mr Claude Maetern, at Kpongu in the Wa municipality in the Upper West Region yesterday.

She said there were no fears about the biometric registration and that she herself had undergone that process when she acquired a new passport.

“It is a brand new register, since the old one will be discarded. Forget about the old voters identity card, as it will not be accepted, come election day,” she added.

She called on Ghanaians not to panic, as pertained in some countries, because at the end of the day, “Ghana must win the elections but not any individual”.

She thanked the EU for its continuous support to the NCCE and expressed the hope that it would go a long way to improve voter education in the country.

For his part, Mr Maetern commended Ghana for being a champion in democracy and a leading example in sub-Saharan Africa and the continent as a whole.

He said it was very important that Ghana had the biometric register in place, so that at the end of the day, the vote of Ghanaians would be their power.

The Chief of Kpongu, Naa Seidu Braimah Kube I, was happy that the community was devoid of any chieftaincy or political conflict and that it had a vibrant youth and a very large voter population.

He, therefore, appealed to the EC to increase the number of polling stations to four instead of the current two to avoid the usual overcrowding associated with elections in the community.

A senior official of the EC has confirmed assurances from the NCCE that the scanners that would be used for the biometric registration would not be different from those used at the various international airports such as the Kotoka International Airport.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra Tuesday, the official said the scanners had never been causes of cancer and erectile dysfunction, adding they had always been used at the airports to collect information on people leaving and entering a particular country.

Meanwhile, the EC is to conduct pilot biometric registration exercises in two constituencies in each of the 10 regions in the country, reports Nana Yaw Barimah from Kumasi.

One of the constituencies will be rural and the other urban.

The one-day national exercise, which is expected to take place before the end of this month, will help the EC to be abreast of the challenges associated with the biometric exercise and how to deal with them before the main exercise starts.

The Ashanti Regional Electoral Officer, Mr Samuel Tettey, made this known at a meeting of political parties organised by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah.

Mr Tettey said the pilot registration exercise would be conducted at Manhyia and Atwima-Kwanwoma in Ashanti Region.

The regional electoral officer and his two deputies, Mr Isaac Owusu and Mr Sarpong, took the participants through the processes of biometric registration and offered the opportunity to them to ask questions.

The Ashanti Regional Minister had earlier, in his welcoming address, assured the participants that the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) would maintain law and order during and after the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections

Prez. Mills Speech At The Commissioning Of GEORGE WALKER BUSH Highway

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor

Hon. Ministers of State

Hon. Members of Parliament

Your Excellency Ambassador Tittelbum

Mr Daniel Yohannes, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation

Mr. Alan Patricof, Member of the MCC Board of Directors,

Officials of the Millennium Development Corporation

Our Traditional Rulers

Distinguished Guests

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am delighted to be part of this ceremony, which marks the completion of works and the handing over of the Tetteh Quarshie-Mallam Road Section of the N.1 Highway.

This laudable MCA Program is a dividend for good governance, continued investment in the people and the deepening of economic empowerment.

We are gathered here because of the kind gestured of the MCC in granting Ghana US$ 547m which has resulted in the construction of this 14.1km road Corridor.

I am informed that this is the first urban-based Road Project undertaken by the MCC, and we appreciate it very much.

The people of Ghana join me in expressing our deepest appreciation to the United States for the continued commitment to a strong bond of friendship between our two countries and thank the MCC for the realisation of this dream.

In appreciation of this kind gesture, I have endorsed the decision to name this Motorway after GEORGE WALKER BUSH, the then President of the United States, who initiated the MCA Program.

Ladies and gentlemen, since we took over the reins of leadership, a significant focus of our national development agenda has been the improvement in the quality of life of our people.

This Administration views the accelerated provision of better road infrastructure as a right, which every Ghanaian living in the urban or rural areas of this country must have.

Our consistent efforts to remove disparities between rural and urban roads infrastructure can be gauged from the many kilometres of feeder and trunk roads currently being reconstructed in many parts of the country.

Let me assure all, that the momentum, which our road development agenda has gathered will continue.

We pledged to invest heavily in expanding infrastructure, and it is manifestly clear that we are holding on to that pledge.

Indeed, Ghana has recently contracted a $3 billion Chinese facility which will be used to give more meaning to our infrastructure expansion agenda; especially in relation to benefiting optimally from our oil and gas find.

I specially acknowledge the presence of Mr. Daniel Yohannes, the CEO of the MCC and Mr Alan Patricof, a member of the MCC’S Board Of Directors, and thank them for re-selecting Ghana for a 2nd 5-year Compact Program.

Apart from road infrastructure expansion, the first Compact also supported, rural farmers and rural market groups.

The Compact has also supported in the provision of schools and water in some of our rural communities and we are grateful.

We can assure you that the lessons learnt on the first Compact will be fully applied on this second Compact, which I am informed will be signed before the end of this year.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a major investment which we must all preserve.

I am appealing to all of us to support the Road Agencies and the City Authorities to preserve the quality of this magnificent extension to the Old Accra-Tema Motorway.

Information I have has it that some persons who have been resettled and compensated in relation to the construction of this magnificent road, are nursing plans to encroach once again on the spaces that have been reserved for future development into the BRT.

Let me assure any such persons that they will not be allowed to engage in any unlawful acts.

Finally, let me congratulate all the Consultants, contractors and other stakeholders who have assisted in the realisation of this dream.

Once again, on behalf of the people of Ghana, I thank the United States for reselecting Ghana for the second five-year Compact, and look forward to a sustained partnership between our two countries.

I thank you for your attention.

Heroes' Welcome For Chipolopolo

Many Zambians took an impromptu day off work to welcome the team

Africa's new football champions, Zambia's Chipolopolo, have arrived to a heroes' welcome in the capital, Lusaka.

A BBC correspondent says waiting fans went wild as captain Christopher Katongo came out of the plane clutching the golden Africa Cup of Nations. The Zambian team beat Ivory Coast 8-7 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out late on Sunday night in Gabon.

The win is particularly poignant because 19 years ago Zambia lost its entire team in a plane crash in Gabon. The BBC's Mutuna Chanda in Lusaka says the airport road is a sea of green, red, orange and black as thousands of fans line up to catch a glimpse of the players making their way to official celebrations to be held downtown in Lusaka's showgrounds.

Several thousand people, some of whom had walked 25km (15 miles), were at the airport to greet the teams.

The event is expected to be attended by former Presidents Rupiah Banda and Kenneth Kaunda, both of whom are huge football fans.

Many Zambians have taken an impromptu day off work to continue celebrating the country's first ever Africa Cup of Nations victory.

'Painful memories'

The current victorious squad departed from the same airport in the Gabonese capital, Libreville, where a Zambia air force plane had refuelled on its way to Senegal for a World Cup qualifier in March 1993 - and then crashed shortly after take-off.

Zambia's players, nicknamed Chipolopolo (the Copper Bullets), paid tribute to the 18 players who died in that crash - dedicating their triumph to them.

"The players who were killed in the plane crash in Gabon was what was behind us and what was driving us through the tournament," goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene told reporters just before leaving Libreville.

"We did not want to go home empty-handed," he said.

Winger Felix Katongo told reporters: "We wanted to win the trophy to make the Zambian people proud and so those who died may rest in peace. Now their souls are at peace."

But for some of the bereaved relatives, the Chipolopolo's win has been bittersweet.

Joyce Chabala lost her husband Efford, who was the team goalkeeper in 1993.

She said Zambia's victory - in the same place where her husband died - had brought back painful memories, not just of his death but of how relatives were treated by previous governments.

Mrs Chabala said she remained unhappy with the official report into what caused the crash and how much compensation she had received.

Nevertheless, she congratulated the current squad.

"I wish my husband were alive so that he could see the team bring the cup here to Zambia - because that was his aim and that is what he died for," she told the BBC's Focus on Africa programme.

Meanwhile, in Abidjan, thousands of Ivorians also turned out to support their team, lining the route across the city from the airport to the players' hotel, the BBC's John James reports.

Monday was declared an official national holiday by the government despite the fact that the Elephants lost, he says.

President Mills Ranked Top In Africa

President John Mills has been judged by the East African Magazine as one of the best leaders on the continent.

In the latest edition (February 6-12, 2012) of its annual African Leadership Scorecard which measures the performance of a president in the areas of governance, democracy, press freedom, corruption and human development in the past year, President Mills was awarded grade A with a score of 70.1% for his performance as a leader in 2011. The Ghanaian leader obtained the same grade in 2010.

The analysis compares and takes a weighted average score of five respected international indices of governance, (the Mo Ibrahim Index, Democracy Index, Press Freedom Index, Corruption Perception Index, and Human Development Index) as well as its own Nation Media Group (NMG) Index and arrives at a final grade point for the leader.
A score of:
· 70-100 percent is equivalent to grade A;
· 60-70 percent is grade B;
· 50-60 percent is grade C;
· 45-50 percent is grade D;
· 40-45 percent is grade F;
· 30-40 percent is Intensive Care Unit (ICU); and
· 0-30 percent is Morgue. This means the country is dead and in a morgue.

The best governors placed closest to 100, and the worst closes to 0. The magazine explained that the “scorecard heavily rewards consistency. If an African leader scores very highly in one or two areas, and very poorly in the rest, he/she will end up with a dismal overall grade. A consistent score across the board on the other hand, will place him or her highly in the overall rankings.”

Except the Mauritian leader Navinchandra Ramgoolam who obtained a lower grade (A) than the previous year (A+), the leaders of Botswana, Cape Verde and Ghana obtained the same grade as in the year before. Some observers say it reflects consistency in performance.

According to the magazine, the Ghanaian leader’s successes could be attributed to strong economic growth. The authors of the report say “A visiting International Monetary Fund team projected that Ghana’s economy was expected to be the fastest growing in the world for 2011. Like elsewhere in Africa, China’s project funding to the nation has been on the rise – a $13 billion infrastructure loan from China was announced. However, this hasn’t affected the nation’s integrity as it continues to crack down on Chinese individuals engaging in illegal mining activities.” The authors further stated that “in an effort to improve the socio-economic wellbeing of the citizenry, Ghana rolled out an ICT training programme for approximately 5,000 people living with disabilities.”

The magazine reported that “despite high growth, there was agitation for better pay that swept the country in the last few months of the year (2011). One of the worst incidents was the doctor’s strike, which caused massive disruption of health service delivery and forced Mills to cancel a trip to the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meeting in Australia.”

Ghana obtained the following scores in the various governance indices for the year 2011:
· Mo Ibrahim Index: 66.0 (7/53);
· Democracy Index: 6.02 (upgraded from hybrid regimes to the flawed democracy category);
· Press Freedom Index: 26 (free)
· Corruption Index: 3.9 (69/183)
· Human Development Index: 0.541
· NMG Grade: 9/10

These led to the final weighted average score of 70.1 and a grade of A for the year 2011.

According to the report, some seven countries such as Egypt, Senegal, Comoros, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Guinea, and Morocco, obtained grade F; eleven countries including Libya, Cote dIvoire, Togo and Cameroon are in intensive care while other twelve countries including Angola, Gambia, Equitorial Guinea and Sudan are completely dead and in the morgue.

Recent developments in the domestic political environment in Ghana including high fuel prices and a judgement debt payments scandal which resulted in the dismissal of a serving Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Martin Amidu for misconduct at a meeting and the resignation of the former Attorney General and later Education Minister, Betty Mould Iddrisu (Mrs) from the cabinet, threaten to negatively affect the image and the credibility of President Mills and the ruling National Democratic Congress.

The opposition New Patriotic Party believes the scandal is a reflection in the President Mills-led government; an allegation strongly denied by the government. According to a Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the arrest of the key recipient of the controversial judgment debt payments and his alleged accomplices, is just the first of a series of actions the president has ordered in order to fully resolve the matter. Supporters of the president believe that his government will come out clean.

The latest Economic and Intelligence Unit’s political forecast on Ghana concludes that the payments scandal is likely to cast a slur on the fortunes of the ruling party at the general elections in December 2012 but indicated that favourable economic growth and low level of inflation could play to the advantage of President Mills and the ruling NDC party, in what is predicted to be another closely contested election.
