The city of Accra and some other parts of the country has been hit by a devastating flood in the early hours of Wednesday.
The floods which followed a heavy downpour around midnight on Tuesday have completely submerged the entire stretch of the Kwame Nkrumah circle road. Five people in the Greater Accra region are reported to have lost their lives following floods. One person is reported to have lost his life at Odawna while four others died at Adenta in Accra.
Property worth thousands of Ghana cedis have also been destroyed.
Major roads in the capital including Graphic road and Nkrumah circle have been submerged by the rains preventing workers from getting to their offices
Worst hit areas according to reports monitored by peacefmonline include Anyaa, Kasoa, Taifa, Dome, Nii boi-Town, Dansoman etc.
The offices of Vodafone and some corporate institutions have been closed.
Transport services by rail have also been suspended.
