Boakye Gyan, Hannah Bissiw Win NDC Parliamentary Primaries

Major (rtd) Boakye Gyan has been elected as the parliamentary candidate to represent the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Jaman South constituency for next year’s elections.

He beat two other contestants to represent the ruling party in the Jaman South constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The NDC on Saturday elected candidates for most of its orphan constituencies in the Northern sector of the country.

This includes constituencies in the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Ashanti and Bono Ahafo Regions. Speaking to Citi News, the NDC regional secretary of the Ashanti region Joseph Yammin, said the elections were successful in 31 out of the 36 constituencies.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Mahama Ayariga also polled 370 votes to represent the Bawku Central for the NDC in the 2012 elections.

He contested against Isahhaku Bukari a development worker who polled 97 votes. The deputy Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing Hannah Bisiw also won in Tano South in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The seat which was contested by three people saw Hannah Bisiw winning with 304 votes.

According to Citi News correspondent, Kwadwo Brefo, the atmosphere was fairly calm and there were no interruptions in the voting process.

In other results the Brong Ahafo regional Minister, Kojo Nyamekye Marfo won in the Sunyani West constituency.

The Amansie West DCE, Charles Oti Prempeh lost to Alex Bonsu in the Ashanti Region.bNational Coordinator for the National Youth Employment Program (NYEP), Abuga Pele, won against the District Chief Executuve (DCE) Thomas Dalu to represent the NDC in Chiana Paga constituency in the Upper East region.
