KASAPAHENE: First Ever Celebrity Halloween Party In Ghana

The first ever Halloween celebration in Ghana came off last Friday November 2, 2012 at the Aphrodisiac Night Club in Accra.

The event dubbed "Halloween Weekend with the Stars" was put together by Juliet Ibrahim Foundation Initiative headed by ace actress Juliet Ibrahim and Project Smiles headed by C.E.O of Aphrodisiac Confidence.

Aside the fun and the dancing in the club the Halloween party was to raise awareness and funds for her Juliet Ibrahim Foundation for kidney cancer and to supports other charity projects by Confidence’s Project Smile Foundation whose core aim is to smiles on the face of needy children.

Celebrities like Nikki Samonas, Deborah Vanessa, KOD, Actress Pascaline Edwards as well as actor Prince David Osei were put up for auction and their fans had the chance to bid and win dates with them. Socialite Confidence Haugen whose Halloween costume was Slutty Nun was auctioned and was bought for over 2000 GHS and she promised to host her fan at Aphrodisiac Night Club, with all expenses paid.

Actress Juliet ibrahim was auctioned but her husband wouldn’t let anyone buy his wife so he had to pay GH¢3000 to keep her. Prince David Osei was awarded Best Costume of the night whiles Deborah Vanessa won the Sexiest Costume of the night. MC for the night was Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD).

Celebrities present included: Pascaline Edwards, Confidence Haugen, Deborah Vanessa, Nikki Samonas, Vicky Zugah, Keitta of BBA fame, Soraya Mensah, Prince David Osei, KOD, Efya, Scientific, Kobi Rana, Tinny, Keitta, Princess Shyngle, Jessica Opare Saforo, Ziggy, Sammy Forson, Moesha, Salma Mumin, Sonia Leeyen (Miss Malaika 2012 contestant) and several others all dressed in different Halloween costume.

After pictures of the event were released over the weekend, Actress, Juliet Ibrahim has been accused pushing foreign culture in Ghana at the expense the Ghanaian culture and traditions because according critics on the various social media Halloween is an American celebration which seems to glorify evil which does not conform to the Ghanaian way of life.

However actress Juliet Ibrahim took to facebook to reply all her critics describing the criticism as ‘ignorant’ and retrogressive because she came up with this idea with a positive mind and the evil things people are talking about.

The event is supposed to be an annual event and Juliet and all other people involved in the organization seem unperturbed about the criticisms and promised to put together same event come next year.
