Nana Addo’s statement a catalogue of lamentations - Felix Kwakye

A member of the communications team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Felix Kwakye Ofosu says the policy statement delivered by the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) lacks substance.

According to him the policy statement which would form the foundation of the 2012 manifesto of the NPP is “a catalogue of lamentations” which lack concrete alternative polices.

Nana Akufo-Addo on Thursday August 31, 2011, delivered what is regarded by many in the NPP as a policy statement which would be a reference point from which the party’s 2012 manifesto would be culled. The event dubbed the Liberty Lectures was organised by the he Danquah Institute in honour of the founders of the Aborigines Right Protection Society.

The 'policy statement' covers what the party intends to do to transform the country’s education, health and other sectors of the economy when voted to power in 2012.

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said all the issues raised by Nana Akufo-Addo in the policy statement are just ‘utopian’ promises which would never be fulfilled.

He added that there are several unfulfilled promises in the NPP’s 2008 manifesto demonstrating clearly that all that Nana Akufo-Addo read in his policy statement are just rhetorics.

He found it surprising that as an opposition leader seeking to be president of the country, Nana Akufo-Addo would rather lament over the problems he claims Ghanaians are facing instead of providing solutions to the purported problems.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that there is nothing new in the policy statement by the NPP flagbearer indicating that the NPP has nothing new to offer Ghanaians when voted to power in 2012.

The NDC Youth activist stated that the free Senior High School policy the NPP intends to implement when voted to power is unattainable but just a ploy to woo Ghanaians to vote for them.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu urged the NPP and its flagbearership to development more result-oriented and comprehensive policies that would match up with that of the NDC for a level playing field in 2012.
