NDC gov’t is lifeless body on a hospital bed - Sammy Awuku

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s Communication team, Sammy Awuku has described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government as a lifeless body on a hospital bed that needs urgent resuscitation.

According to Sammy Awuku since the NDC government assumed office, the pace at which they are governing the country is as slow as the former president Rawlings has always stated. He said the pace is even slower now than before.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem on Friday, Sammy Awuku said the NDC government is deliberately contracting loans without utilizing it for the intended purposes.

Sammy Awuku argued that the NDC government does not have economic policies to govern the country with, but was quick to say “even if there is any, it is either increasing taxes or contracting more loans”.

“The NDC administration is like a lifeless body on a hospital bed which needs resuscitation,” Sammy Awuku stressed.

Sammy Awuku said the NDC is in to amass wealth by hook or crook that is why the three Billion Dollars has been contracted, adding projects for the loan is not up to the amount quoted and therefore questioned where the rest of the loan would go.

He cited the “Republic” newspaper which reported that the Roads Minister, Joe Gidisu had bought a GHC200,000 Six series BMW car which had been allegedly seized by president Atta Mills at the castle.

He said this is a clear indication that the NDC is not making prudent economic policies to help the country.

However, the Municipal Chief Executive for Assin North in the Central Region, Alex Antwi Boasiako argued that the people of Assin Fosu and its environs have benefited immensely from the loans the NDC government is contracting.

Alex Antwi Boasiako said for over forty years, the area did not have portable drinking water, but within two and half years into the administration of the NDC, the area will soon have drinking water since work on it is ongoing.

He added that the area which did not have tarred roads, can now boast of some within two and half years of the NDC government coming into office.

The Assin north Municipal Chief Executive noted that the area did not benefit from numerous loans contracted during the eight year period, because the MP for the constituency, Kennedy Agyapong had always indicated that he uses his pocket money to undertake developmental projects in the area.
